But it might be nice to just follow someone around and explore the world (which inevitably results in my death, no doubt) I've heard there's wonderful things to be found outside of the Republic University.

I'm still iffy on where I want to go, but I need to buy a GPU and get playing again before I corp up. I don't expect to join a corp and instantly be worked into their ranks.. but I want teamwork, adventure, PvP and active people to play with. Games get dull on their own.

I take it you have a home station where you store all your stuff/modules/exotic dancers/etc. If you look in Assets, you can find the station where you store all your stuff and then set a waypoint to it.

Good to note for future reference, and yeah my home station is the Republic University... the home of all newbies... and bigger ships than me known as CONDOR, but they don't seem to attack me so I don't mind

Garacesh Posted June 1, 2015 Author Posted June 1, 2015 I did wonder if he meant CONCORD.. @LiamHaith, CONCORD are the AI Space Police. They won't attack you unless you attack someone unprovoked. (If someone shoots at you, you're allowed to fire back without CONCORD blowing you up, but if you're the aggressor, they merc you)

Have any capsuleers engaged you yet? the first time another player tries (or succeeds) to pop you is intense. I still remember the first time I got podded and that was something like 7 years ago.

Let me put it simply: If you venture regularly into nullsec (or even lowsec) you will lose your ship. It is inevitable. You won't lose it every time you go there. It's not a daily occurrence. And sometimes you'll make that git lose theirs, too. And sometimes, even still, you'll get to keep yours and they won't. Rule #1 of EVE - Do not fly anything you're not willing to lose. The trick is having the funds, economy, or corp, to make replacing your ship hassle-free. After your first couple of ships you'll learn not to get too attached. Seeing yourself blasted into space-dust becomes 'just another day'.. And since you don't lose skill points anymore (personally I preferred the old clone method) it's not exactly a failure-state anymore. Edited June 1, 2015 by Garacesh

Being shot is fun though... It gives an adrenalin rush as you try and figure out how to fight or escape. You might be surprised sometimes, fighting back can be very successful - even against a veteran player. Bear in mind, in high-sec space you are pretty much completely safe against someone shooting you. CONCORD will turn up and blow them to bits pretty quickly. In 0.5 space, CONCORD will take roughly 19 seconds to turn up. In 1.0 and 0.9, its 6 seconds (and also, if it is a "noob system" ie. starter system, someone ganking new players will lead to them being banned.

Was in 0.3 sec space, running a complex with a corp-mate in my shiny new Myrmidon (I was so proud of it). It was our own stupid fault - we had been moving around a lot, and when we finished the complex, we just sat there for a couple of minutes rather than moving on... We barely even noticed who attacked us it was so quick, lol.
halbaradkenafin Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 There is little I'm eve like the rush of pvp, especially early on when you're still new to it or out in small gang/solo. Highlight of my pvp career was wandering low sec in a daredevil trying to find something to kill, managed to catch an inty, kill him and warp out just as his friends landed. That's something you never forget even after numerous other engagements of different sizes.

Afterwards I was just like "woah" because of the adrenaline, no other game has ever been able to generate that same feeling. You can down grade most to T1 or meta 2 or 3 for pretty cheap. Are you in a corp or just the standard one? you should probably consider joining an indy corp so that you can do some mining ops in a fleet, it's much more fun. edit A few years ago on here someone set up the channel "EduGeek" with the password "geek" so we could try that. Afterwards I was just like "woah" because of the adrenaline, no other game has ever been able to generate that same feeling. 8 years ago I loaded my Rifter cargo hold with umpteen skills and carted them from 1.0 to nullsec for the corp. We had instajump waypoints set up for the route, but I just stuck on Autopilot and kept an eye on it whilst I did.. whatever else I was doing at the time. I forget. Anyway, I got completely ganked by gate campers on the journey back after dropping everything off for the corp. Only then did I realise how much of a boob I'd been and how easily I could have lost several billion ISK worth of skills..

Most recently I lost a Hawk trying to bait out a cruiser sat 200km off station in nulsec, reinforcements were too slow so he got away as well We got him in the end and he was using faction mods so it was worth it.
