LiamHaith Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 Sniping is the way forward, and the way back.. and any other way - because you will never escape the missiles! As I said, Missiles are the way forward. Why have to target things when you just turn on the auto missiles and send a barrage of death out? Lasers look cool and all, but lets be honest - they're easily beaten by a mirror...

LiamHaith Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 If only Apple made battleships, all the shiny would make them invincible. Why do you think I fly Caldari.... Not only do we have missiles, but we also use Sheen to obtain a gleam so bright not even the most diligent laser could help but bounce off of our (non-existent) armour!
LiamH Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 The new missile effects are pretty. I do miss the days with duel prot mod ravens and oldschool torps.
Arreks Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Been spending the majority of my time in my Stratios down in wormhole space - it's oddly relaxing having nothing but sleepers for company. I'm glad I decided to go into exploration rather than just get bored and stop playing like usual, no doubt I'll eventually get bored of exploring too but for now I'm enjoying it.
localzuk Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 I started up my old character in the holiday, now that I've got a feel for things again. Set up some PI stuff, started training some exploration skills and hauled all my mining stuff away from where I used to have it (as they now seem to not have ice in the system any more). I forgot how slow the Orca and Obelisk were!
Ghostgame Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 There probably is still ice belts in that system but you have to scan them down to find them now.
localzuk Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 There probably is still ice belts in that system but you have to scan them down to find them now. Well, that's annoying!!
localzuk Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Just find a friendly scanning player. Ahem! Lol, I have scanning skills, just didn't realise they'd hidden belts!!
Garacesh Posted June 1, 2015 Author Posted June 1, 2015 Still waiting for the 980ti release and then I'll be getting back into EVE Should be sometime this week, hopefully. Rumour is Computex, but there's some other people saying a little later on. Others are saying it should be released today.

D: Ripoff! Grumble grumble. I was hoping for around the £475-500 mark, with a drop in the standard 980 price.

So very close!

I forgot how slow the Orca and Obelisk were! Slap a 100mn mwd on the orca and you'll warp in about 10s (from gates and other standing starts, not from stations unfortunately). It's a simple click warp/jump in overview and activate then deactivate mwd for 1 cycle and away you go.
localzuk Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Does anyone remember the old web/jump trick? You'd have an alt web your Orca and you could then pretty much insta-warp? Sadly killed off years ago, but I remember it fondly.

I remember watching a video about using a MWD* to warp out before the gate-cloak dropped off you, though not the specifics of actually pulling it off. I don't know how I feel about the gate-cloak.. Gate camping was always a bit of a scummy tactic, but an amazing counter-attack if you got wind from your spies that people were on their way.. * Typed WMD at first.. That's a whole different scenario..

Sadly killed off years ago, but I remember it fondly. That should still work, at least in theory. You'd need to be in the same Corp as usual but might also need to disable safeties. Against some camps it was the only way out alive as crashing the gate (burning back and jumping back through) doesn't work unless you have a quick align time to warp off before they send a few people through to catch you.

The old double-back trick. Jump in, jump out, leg it! Never really went on big PvP missions when I first played, QUAM was always a small corp anyhow, but I heard when big alliance hunts were going on there were regularly teams of delayed jumpers who would follow behind to make sure they didn't try the ol' jumperoo..
localzuk Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 That should still work, at least in theory. You'd need to be in the same Corp as usual but might also need to disable safeties. It was definitely nerfed. Our alliance used to use it constantly, and then an update came along and it just didn't work any more. I remember it being in the release notes for the update at the time too.
LiamHaith Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Everyone talking about their adventures makes me think I'm playing the game "wrong" I've never left a 1.0 sec area, nor have I really even moved from where I started at... I just mine nearby asteroids and run away whenever someone else comes along, or float around in my Condor "showing off" how shiny and unscathed it is.
halbaradkenafin Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 If you are having fun then that's all that matters.
Arreks Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 If you are having fun then that's all that matters. This. I try and do a different thing all the time just because I get bored if I do the same thing for too long.. there's absolutely nothing wrong with staying in high sec and just doing indy stuff if you like doing that. My next plan is to set up a POS down in a wormhole somewhere.. time to make the edugeek corp after all!
Garacesh Posted June 1, 2015 Author Posted June 1, 2015 If you want to start a corp, I think it would be better off being "A corp that Edugeek members join" rather than "An EduGeek corp".. There just aren't enough of us. Still, doesn't it take a lot of capital to get a corp actually 'up and running'? And a decent amount of members? I dunno. Haven't looked into it. Is a slow-and-steady startup still viable? I mean, until you have a lot of members and enough industry to make an Alliance worthwhile, you're kinda on your own..
Arreks Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Not really, under 2 million ISK and a few skills and you're all set. I've made one in the past so I've got the skills, I just need one to set up a POS properly so it was more of a joke.
