I might resub too... hoping to build a new gaming rig next week so may wait for that to arrive before I do. Been getting some real itches to resub the the past few months strangely.

The most left field one was while waiting to pull a world boss in wow, stood there with 39 other players waiting around thinking "oh i remember the tension you had when aligning with hundreds of other pilots before a huge engagement in eve. Just waiting for the FC to call the jump/warp range"

And the inevitable lemmings who'd jump/warp before told and die horribly.

*hushed tone* I would always count to three before warping so i wasn't first on the field...

I don't think I have played any game that could be as intense as eve was, knowing that there is a harsh penalty for death and when your ship explodes its gone. I know the age old "only fly what you can afford to loose" but jumping into an engagement with a ship you spent millions of isk on and hours of tweaking the fittings, knowing that if the oppo FC calls you primary you are pretty much toast.

Must say one of the most fun i had in eve was small roaming gangs patrolling nullsec, we once went out for the giggles in a 50+ strong fleet of T1 destroyers, fitted for pure damage, we downed battleships, battlecrusers and even a t3 ship when they had only just come out.

Interceptors were always a blast too, i used to roam around with a group of 5 or so interceptors, I was flying a crow at the time, we took down a raven in lowsec, just before he exploded i made a bad turn and got hit by a torp (this was before the missile rework, where the only wait to avoid getting one shot by a torp was to outrun it)

I do miss EVE terribly sometimes - ain't nothing scratches that space itch in quite the same way, though I need to give Homeworld Remastered a look in - but my life has changed too much. I started playing when I was single and unemployed, and could spend all those hours a day playing (thank god for downtime, I'd never have gotten showered otherwise), and even once I was gainfully employed, I could go home and spend 6 or 7 hours a night just chatting away, casually missioning/floating about nullsec with a small group. But once you have a wife and kids, all that free time starts to shrivel up, and if you can't give EVE the hours it needs, you just end up spinnin' ships with nowt else worthwhile to do.

Gaming isn't as high a priority on my free time as it once was, either - I'd rather spend more evenings writing, and only game the odd night or two, but that doesn't really fit in with "your corp is relying on you".

Which is all a massive shame, because I loved that game like I've never loved another. We had corp meetups, and PVP frigate tournaments, and I was FC for a few trips around our local area (we were based up North, in 5Z), and I was always good for cash after destroying a low-sec pirate boss at the end of a missions chain and getting a billion ISK pirate battleship blueprint (and, miraculously, getting it back to high sec in one piece)... but EVE just doesn't fit around my life anymore :(

Though one day, I may get a cheap month's resub from one of their offers and sign up for Red v Blue, if that's still going. I'd have to relearn so much, though - it must have been over 5 years now - and it'd frustrate me no end knowing that I used to know how this worked, and I used to have the appropriate reactions to EW, and I used to know the intimate details of what laser crystal to use when (tbh, "Scorch" and "all the time") - so I don't know as I'd actually enjoy it all that much.

Now I'm all sad and nostalgic :(

They are still going, one of their leadership (Mangala) also runs a weekly roam into null with a theme. They basically fly around with ~100 people+ in fleet and shoot whatever they run into. It's been good fun when I used to go on them.

A quick skim through my losses and it looks like I only ever lost about 400mil worth of stuff, never lost of my T3s thankfully but I never risked them in PVP as the skill loss wasn't worth it (the isk wasn't too big a deal since they weren't super pimped and only about 1.5 - 2 bil value).

I used to play this a bit but then I just ended up paying and leaving my skill queue going for days without logging back on again! Tempted to play again but I don't have as much spare time now and play world of tanks instead.

Well stop playing WoT and start playing EVE xP I need buddies! lol

It's actually getting tempting to do so for me, mostly for the new ships I can train for and buy. Then again Tanks is nice for the log in -> shoot other people -> rage log out, all in 5 mins or less.

Yep that's about right! It's much easier to solo on WoT than EVE as well but the last thing I was doing on EVE was getting mastery on some of my ships so that my skills were better overall since from the off I basically just rushed to get a battleship which was great but I couldn't use any good gear :(

We could do with a teamspeak server or something so if anyone gets time they can jump on and game or just chat so it's not as boring while playing EVE solo.

I'm still working through the tutorials (I've done the basic stuff, Military and Mining, working my way through Advanced Military and whatever the last one is.. economics?) but even solo I'm enjoying it.. Really reminds me of how I used to love the game.. But now I'm older and smatr smarter and a better strategist I can plan things out better instead of just being so passive (as much as I enjoyed the game, it was SOOO confusing at 15 years old lol).. For instance, my current ship has 1 Mining Laser, 2 S cannons (one with EMP, one with Phased ammo, packs a damn good punch!) and a probe launcher.. Even things like using multiple types of ammunition would have been lost on me back then xP

A very common mistake that people make in EVE, bigger ships don't always mean better! I think I made that mistake on my first character too :p

I've got a TS server that hardly ever gets used except for when I'm recording, but it's only 10 slots.. so it may be better to go on one of the big public TS servers and make a channel.

Yeh I started when I was younger so hence why I made the mistake but with all the skills I made up now my account is much better and I'm a pretty good armour tank although I don't like PVP that much lol. In terms of your TS 10 slots is fine for a start as at least there's somewhere to go so if you don't mind making the details public you could post them but otherwise feel free to PM me them!

Rushing to BC was "fine" since level 3 missions were very easy but then you'd want to get really good support skills before taking that next step to BS, especially which how difficult some of the level 4s are when you don't have full T2 tank and enough dps to kill the NPC BSs quickly.

I remember doing level 4s in a mega tanked Drake and barely dropping below 50% shields even with full room aggro but it took so long to kill everything (and I suspect even longer now following the balance changes).

Oh i remember you could get a crazy passive tank on a drake.. shield extenders and shield power relays... then AAA decided to try use them in pvp, many fleet of drakes were destroyed and good times were had.

Even if everyone in this thread starts to play again, I doubt we'll even have 10 guys yet :p Plus once you join a corp high chance is they'll have a bigger TS3 or Mumble to use.

I remember - and I can't remember much about it - we had one of our ships aggro CONCORD vessels at gates, with a bunch of other guys feeding it shields so it didn't die. Managed to sustain tank against CONCORD indefinitely.. Couldn't even scratch them back, though :p Fun times.

Can't remember my old corp, though :( Probably isn't even going anymore.

Good old CONCORD...I remember watching a 200m faction battle cruiser getting owned by concord as he decided to aggro them for no reason. At that time I didn't have much ISK and hadn't really seen any expensive ships and I couldn't believe someone was that reckless!

I wish I could remember what my current skill path was.. could fly everything Caldari/Gallante/Amarr sub-cap, apart from the more care bear stuff. That will have change now though.

I think I burned my skill points gained from removing the learning skills on battle cruiser V or something along those lines, those first few weeks of skill training the learning skills was rough.

I was roaming low sec one day in a Daredevil and jumped into a system, hit scan and saw a miner in a belt. Decided to rush over there and try to take him out. After a few shots he was in about 1/2 armour and Concord killed me as I'd jumped into a 0.6 without realising.

Learning Skills were a pain but you saw a huge difference when you had 5/4, the refunded SP went into something similar for me.

I think I'm going to resub tonight and give it a go for a few hours this week. Thanks guys for enabling my old habit, I've already been told by my gf if I get too addicted again then she's holding an intervention and cutting off my internet access.

Tempted, but Cities Skylines will be coming out tomorrow!

Pffft, you'll manage! I'm going to be juggling between 2 other MMO's and DayZ but there will always be time for EVE!

I play Elite Dangerous, and Microsoft FSX, but Eve is more like a 2nd job, not a game.

Especially when you live in Wormholes.
