Joanne Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 I must say I've been really impresses with our Smart E70 interactive panels, only problem i've found is they can get quite erratic when the sensor bars around the frame get dusty but that's an issue with our cleaners rather than the boards. I clean all our boards. Don't expect cleaners to do it... just like I wouldn't have expected them to clean projector filters!!

Android included is a small bonus. Response times were reasonable, anti glare was good, freeze function. Miracast will be coming in the future. 1
GuyJD Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 A school I supported bought Benq interactive displays and a few of them developed faults with the I/R receiver, basically stopping most functions from working, the company that installed them sorted it all out with Benq but it must have cost them a fortune as they were 300 miles away and had to stop over in a hotel every time they visited.

I haven't been able to find a way of getting a similar size screen ("70+) without spending massively over the £1700 we'd usually budget on kitting out a classroom.
Nadnerb Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 You can certainly find touch screens around the 65" mark for around the £1700 mark. It's not all about the money though, other things need to be taken into consideration. Generally, for the money you could be getting your speakers, amp and touch screen interactive panel and projector all in one single unit. You don't have to worry about projector cleaning/bulb replacement, speakers being on the wrong input. The clarity of picture is better for people's eyes. The touch experience is much much better. More than one child can use the board at once. They last longer than projectors. 50,000-80,000 hours for most of the touch screens I've researched. They give a much brighter picture than classroom projectors will, so no more of the closing all the blinds rigmarole! This sort of tech is quite a long term investment for a school, as it's the kind of technology I'd still expect to see in use in 8 years or so (which is a long time in technology terms). In my opinion, this is the long term cheaper and better option.

We had about a 40% failure rate on the AlphaTouch we sold. Staying away from them now as couldn't open one without worrying if it would work or not. Also one school had a faulty Android so it was taken away and last I heard hadn't been returned over 4 weeks later. Be careful with them is all I would say. 1

They are described as "Anti-reflection" and I wondered if this is the same as anti-glare - or something slightly different?! Has anyone had one of these to demo and is the screen any better or worse than its competitors? Any other comments or info on the Prowise solution would be appreciated! Thanks!

Anti-Reflective and Anti-Glare are different coatings. you really need to test to see what works best for you in the environment you will be using them in. Anti-Glare will have a more matte finish.

Thanks. You can get VividTouch 65in with 5year warranty and 3 years Smart Notebook for was than £2k. Gonna be even cheaper when they release their new range this/next month. Let me know if you need more info
Sheridan Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 After lots of evaluations we're going down the route of Smartboards and Clevertouch - probably 60/40 in the favour of Smart. Both do the same job, but some depts are really into Notebook, and some want the clevertouch size range! Only getting one in of each type initially though for a better evaluation.

biggjb Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Smart now do 55" 65" and 70". In general I have really seen the need for anything above 70" due to the quality of image that panels offer. Word of warning about the Smart 6055 and 6065. These only have 1 HDMI input and no screen freeze function. This makes them very difficult for education users who want to use a visualiser or apple TV. The 4055, 4065, and 4070 (old E70) have all the inputs required so as long as your not bothered about a 4k Screen they are very good. Once final point on the Smart Panel over the others. The quality of speakers on the smart panels is poor. They even recommend a sound bar

Haptic Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 So, we had our first Smart 4065 installed in the computing hub!!! After months of demo models for nearly every brand known to man, we finally decided on the Smart 4065!! This model has all the connectivty we need and a (freeze button lol!!) and is a really nice board. As we are a embedded Smart software school it also made sense and was thei right cost point also. We chose to install in the computing hub first as all staff will get to have a play and get used to the board before we roll out to the rest of the school. The install was done very professionally and to a superb standard, all trunking for the cables was neat and care was taken. The engineers even had their own henry for cleaning up etc.!! Well done @Haptic a quality installation!!
