We're windows 7 SP1 and osx 10.9 or 10.10 on our owned PCs here although we allow the students to use vista on their own laptops (there are 3 I think) and chromebooks as well. No XP allowed anywhere.

IT staff use Windows 8.1 and we'll probably go to 10 when it's out and have a think about updating others once the first 10.1/sp1 comes out and we've done the servers.

I have one XP PC in this school and one XP laptop. They have been specifically left as there is some SEN software that cannot run on W7 apparently. They are going very soon

Just a few stand alone Windows XP PC's here, we removed all PC's that wouldn't upgrade to Windows 7 last summer shutting 3 IT Suites in the process :-(.

Let's put it like this... This school went predominantly windows 7 18 months ago. I arrived 6 months ago, I have a windows 10 lab in place now with a view to retiring our 2008r2 DC and going windows 10 server towards the end of the year when I have no money to spend and therefore lots of time. I plan to transition the majority of clients to windows 10 by september next year.

 

We are completely redoing our servers in the summer and I am looking at upgrading to Win 10 if its stable enough

All machines now Win 7+. My governor school has a single standalone, un-networked, XP box for a machine in DT due to driver issues with Win 7.

 

Now that XP is out of support, i.e. no updates, having it in school leaves you open to too many vulnerabilities in my opinion. Quite a lot of software, especially AV, will cease to be updated for it in the near future probably

Windows 10 won't be ready by summer. Plus if you are using SIMS it won't be supported until 2016

We are around 80% Windows 8.1 with the remainder on Windows 7 (that is staff/faculty/instructional workstations).

Moved entirely over to Win 7 during summer 2013. Only XP related things we still operate are XP Embedded tills, and they'll be getting a replacement reasonably soon I think!

 

All machines that couldn't run 7 have become thin clients running Debian and FreeRDP, or binned.

 

Windows 10 might be on the cards summer 2016 I think, but it really depends on the software we run atop it.

Where I am, we are officially 80% on Win 7. New devices procured in the last year are all Win 8.1 (15%). Remaining 5% (4.9% to be exact) are on other OSes like Linux, OSX. Which leaves XP, Vista, etc. in the 0.1% category. I suspect there would be statistical errors, but the overall picture puts XP to rest.

 

That said, it's usually the 0.1% that cause up to 50% of all managed software conflicts. Grrr...

Music ICT still on XP - 15 machines mainly due to the age of them and sibelius, rest of the site is on windows 7

What version of Sibelius out of interest? We're running 5 on W7 although it does prompt about compatibility. Works fine though.

Thought about leaving them on XP, also because of running Cubase LE4 (eeeuuuuurgh!) but in the end the deal was we refuse to run anything XP so if it doesn't work for them, they need to sort out their software considering the huge amount of warning we gave!

Version 4, running on ancient HP DC5100s It's not so much the software the PC's are barely compatible with windows 7,the chipset for instance - I have to use some hacky laptop drivers just to get the gpu installed (Intel 910GL) Doesn't seem worth upgrading them at this point and I've been campaigning for replacements.

I know money is tight around different schools but think our upgrade to Sibelius 7 was about £2500 and that was for about 50 licences so your 15 wouldn't cost the earth and you should be able to put a good plan together to the SLT for this. They will be quick enough to moan when something goes wrong due to XP.

Tried it, I came up with 3 options for the board 1) New Pc's + Licences 2) refurb PC's and licences 3) licences only - guess which they chose. I think the 15 licences came to about £700 but it just didn't seem worthwhile sticking it on 10 year old hardware so I left it.

We have only 1 XP machine which is used for the laser cutter in tech but that's it. In terms of server 2013 we have 3 servers running this however one of these is a legacy server which is not used and the other two we are migrating away from over time.

We've pretty much rolled everything over to Windows 7 now. We also have machines running 2GB of RAM and the only issue we've found so far as that Office 2013 can get sluggish at times. Like IT_Ninja suggested above, we've put in a request to upgrade each machine to 4gb of RAM with a SSD increase productivity and prevent the students complaining too much.

A few 2003 servers here, still tracing down legacy carp that we find doesn't work when we switch off a server because someone has put a database in an in-appropriate place and no documentation.

 

No XP anywhere, hasn't been for a few years.

Two 2003 servers left running over here, but they are on the list of things to hopefully die at the end of the school year.

One is running our old mail server that we are still using for controlled assessments. I could move it over to a newer OS, but as our upgrade licence ran out 3 years ago I don't want to take the chance of it breaking (and I'd rather we found another way for the kids to do the e-mail for the assessment)

The other server is just running a backup of our print server and our Sibelius 5 licence server.
