Davit2005 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Tiniest bit of snow is not needed to cause issues on the Railway Held up 20mins because of a signal fault, london overground part suspended for same reason. Not looking forward to train journey home if it gets worse.
Norphy Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 There was about half an inch on my car this morning in north Hertfordshire. Not enough to disrupt my journey or close the college though.
Andrew_C Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Hampshire is now terrible. Traffic chaos, all that you can imagine... and 1/2" of fluffy white stuff. Still, on the bright side, no cyclists, so my drive in was 10 mins quicker. And the cats LOVE it!
eyetea Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Barely an inch of fluffy stuff and commute was 4x as long!
Tesla Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Due to the unique (crap) way Milton Keynes was built (grid roads, roundabouts, etcetc) when it snows it turns into one massive gridlock. the snow wasnt even bad on the main roads this morning and a 5 minute journey took me 20 minutes.
rad Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 We are also a london school, although I live out in the Chilterns. Early wake up call to update the website etc and all the school has is a light dusting.
elsiegee40 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 We have had snow this morning. It did settle, but frankly the hail we had last week was a thicker layer than the snow today! * Awaits snow chaos story in Kent Messenger on Friday - sigh *
Andrew_C Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Following last weeks earthquake, Winchester woke this morning to Snowmageddon. (Picture stolen from the internets) 3
bald_pig Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 We have had snow this morning. It did settle, but frankly the hail we had last week was a thicker layer than the snow today! * Awaits snow chaos story in Kent Messenger on Friday - sigh * M25 and A20 were practically at a standstill this morning, but the ride in wasn't too bad until I got to the smaller roads near the school! The carpark was untouched as well
AJWhite1970 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Delayed opening until 10:30 for us after a couple of inches of snow overnight. Large rural catchment area so the right call IMHO.
Grey-gear Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Had a bit in Derby but it's now mostly melted away
HarryMonkey Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Due to the unique (crap) way Milton Keynes was built (grid roads, roundabouts, etcetc) when it snows it turns into one massive gridlock. the snow wasnt even bad on the main roads this morning and a 5 minute journey took me 20 minutes. I had the journey through MK and it wasn't too bad, where I suffered was the Bedford to Newport Pagnell road where someone decided they couldn't possibly do more than 25 miles an hour on what was basically a clear road (with the odd bit of slush) !!
Tesla Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I had the journey through MK and it wasn't too bad, where I suffered was the Bedford to Newport Pagnell road where someone decided they couldn't possibly do more than 25 miles an hour on what was basically a clear road (with the odd bit of slush) !! I was going up past westcroft way, was absolutely chock-a-block there
HarryMonkey Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I was going up past westcroft way, was absolutely chock-a-block there What time was that? I was heading to SBE and it was fairly clear at around 8-50.
Arreks Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 We had a decent dusting this morning which looked like it was getting thicker and more promising, but then it promptly melted!
Tesla Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 What time was that? I was heading to SBE and it was fairly clear at around 8-50. about 8.25
tech_guy Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Sunny blue skies here (or the drugs have kicked in - I can't tell)....
HarryMonkey Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 about 8.25 Aha, looks like I timed it right then
CAM Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Had snow in Surrey this morning but nothing too consequential. It got worse after I arrived at work, early start FTW.
6Foot2 Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 It is snowing here again now and has been of and on again all morning. While it is fairly heavy and setting the covering is quite light. Doubt it will amount to much.
X-13 Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 We've got crappy snow here... so glad my buses are still running. [The snow here is such bad quality, I legit didn't know you could actually SEE snowflakes until a couple of years ago...]
Tesla Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 on and offhere all morning, heaviest its been now though, though coz all the other snow was crud and melted it's not sticking.
CAM Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 It was starting to settle but turned into sleet. Now it's just rubbish and nasty icy rain.
