I don't know which is more frightening.. The prospect of driving in conditions shown on that webcam view from the first link.. Or the 1995-esque web page from the second D: I'm surprised there's no sparkly gifs!

They have those awesome snowplough gifs though and the lightning bolt one at the very bottom. Its such a brilliantly old school website, love it!

@Novalee is quite possibly snowed in

You're right @elsiegee40 ! We were closed Thursday and Friday. Back in now though, but it's still white over and SO much snow about with icey pavements now.

-2 here when I left home at 07.20am but no sign of anything white. Very cold for us soft southern folk :(

By the looks of the map - snow will hit practically everybody else except us - as usual

Walked to work this morning as usual.. No snow. There was a little icy patch where one persons drain had overflowed, but that's it.

Except that at-least-an-inch-thick slab of ice that had been smashed into pieces about halfway through my journey. That was a bit odd. (I checked. It was definitely ice, not glass.)

Put it on your tongue to see if it melted ?

Melts = (Was)Ice

Cuts = Glass

Spent the weekend at my girlfriends house it snowed everyday! She does live on top of a hill though, as soon as I got into our main town (where I live) there wasn't a slight bit of snow anywhere, she's has to have the day off work because it's so bad where she is though, I should have stayed there last night would have had an excuse :p - What is life.

Any aspiring edu-meteorologists? what's the London weather forecast? can I expect a day off any time soon? :(

Current outlook for Norfolk (so London likely to be the same, just a tad warmer):

Average temperature for the next two weeks: bloody cold

Chances of rain at temperatures that will cause brain freeze: pretty high, especially mid week.

Chances of snow for the next two weeks: meh!

Chances of snow settling in the next two weeks: nope.

Chances of freak snow storm ruining half term plans: 100%

Both Google, BBC and the met office have all given me incorrect forecasts recently so I'd rather rely on people I've never met to guess!

Compare Metcheck and BBC Weather, between the two you can get a good idea of what might happen. They often have two different but close forecasts, but the trouble with the South East is it treads the very fine line between snow and rain. Temperatures hover around zero, but might rise 1-2 degrees in built up areas (especially London) to cause rain or drop a degree in elevated areas to cause snow.

Nyet.

Kicked it. A bit of it chipped off. It sounded like ice. It also didn't puncture the car tyres that drove over it.

I have woken to a good covering of snow. However this should not be deep enough to cancel school. We shall see...

Location: Hertfordshire about 30 miles Northwest of London.

Edit: An even covering on the side roads, although not deep, and clear on main roads. School is open here [i think as I haven't heard otherwise]

We have around 5cm of snow this morning - YAY!!!!

School open but some side roads fairly perilous

If we have snow in South Dorset, things must be pretty bad elsewhere.

We've had snow at least one day a week for the last 4 weeks I think here uuuuuuup North.

A fair cm - not enough to close schools.

My wife keeps shouting at me for my handbrake turns into the drive. In her car. Kids love it.
