sahilkhan Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 i am looking to get away from RM to an alternative system, RM is not cutting it for me, i have no experience of any other system it would be great if someone can post some Pro's and Con's of Impero or an alternative system which can help me fight the case so i can get rid of RM, any help would be greatly appreciated... Thanks
Arreks Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Impero Pros: everything Cons: you'd have to sell your kidney on the black market to afford it Having used Impero for nearly a year and having tried most alternatives, it's honestly the best you can get.
Steven_Cleaver Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 I did have a look at Impero and did look good but am already using some tools from a company called Burconix Ltd I think the site only mentions version 2 of the tools but whilst these were excellent Version 3 has made a really big jump BCX Management Version 3 Version 3 Notes
pickman Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 +1 for impero Really user friendly and easily usable by staff. Still keep finding new things it can do. It is pricey though
halbaradkenafin Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 +1 for impero Really user friendly and easily usable by staff. Still keep finding new things it can do. It is pricey though Definitely +1'ing this. I've used it at both schools I've been in and never had any complaints, lots of praise in comparison to the previous systems (RM Tutor in one and Ranger Remote Control in the other). You'll always love being able to log in to a full room of PCs and run a series of commands from your office (or the teacher PC in the room if it's term time). We've had to rebuild one PC suite since September and after the initial build start with PXE boot and MDT it was just sit back and watch the class work through the script you've created in their handy GUI.
Gibson335 Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Not sure if you meant replacing RM CC? or just their class tool. + 1 for Burconix if you meant moving away from CC, and a +1 for Impero either way.
Sylv3r Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Impair is a great product and we use it here. Not sure if it would replace your network though, your going to have to setup scripts etc for mapping printers logging down access to students and staff etc, but Impero on the top will give you a lot of useful features - printer credits, patch management, power management etc.
Lorfarius Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 We were on CC3 until 2013 and went for Impero as a good alternative. It's been great these past 2 years, only problem of note was an issue with older PCs not having decent Wake on LAN (these were from 2005 so no surprise) but once those were phased out its been pretty good.
ben_mayo Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 I've only ever used two systems one being Impero and the other being ABTutor. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, I personally prefer AB as I knew the in's and out's of that program and could do a lot with it. Still getting used to Impero but so far it can also do a lot. Its personal preference really.
