My favourite combo goes against your post as it's my trusty Canon 450D with the 18-200mm f3.5 EF-S. I know most will cringe at that but I found it nice and flexible for the stuff I'm interested in. I'm in the process of looking at an upgrade to a 6D and a couple of Primes but for landscapes I'm currently using a Canon M3 with either a 22mm stm or 18-55mm zoom. Occasionally I carry the 70-200mm M lens. For long trips I add a converter to take a Sigma 70-300 F4.

 

Each to their own! I don't have anything against zooms, just generally prefer the benefits of the prime over the flexibility of the zoom.

 

Never had the pleasure of using the 18-200mm but the range sounds mega. One lens to rule them all!

 

Here's my most recent shot, fresh out of the Lightroom oven. Taken last night in Birmingham with the A7 and, in contradiction to everything i've said so far, the 28-70mm kit lens.

We had amazing skies today. Taken with my phone (Moto G3), straight out of the phone, no processing apart from in-camera HDR.

The winter skies here in Scarborough take on a whole new personality in HDR. I like to mess about with HDR quite a bit, and yes sometimes I overcook the effect. But I like it

I drove all the way from Birmingham to Surrey to take some pics of a guys car. He found me on Instagram and asked me to go do a little shoot for him

 

I've since been contacted by the company who wrapped his car to go take some photos for them too yay! Here's a few from the shoot, any thoughts?

Reminds me of the Strobists work, but you don't kill the sunlight as much so it's a bit of a different look.

The two shots by the tree (1st and 3rd) are actually naturally lit, no additional lighting at all. I knew that if i exposed for the sky, i'd lose the car and if i exposed for the car, i'd blow out the sky. So i exposed somewhere in the middle, then i used Lightroom to pull the detail out of the shadows to get the car correctly exposed and pulled back the highlights to get the sky. The joys of modern day cameras and their crazy dynamic range!

 

The Barn shot was lit entirely with the YN360 light stick thingy. Several exposures combined together in Photoshop.

Entered a couple of photos into the Northamptonshire Sports Awards competition - this one got shortlisted! The awards night is a week today, not expecting to win but I know there are only going to be three or four on the shortlist so may have a chance...
