MrMat Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 I'm here for a little feedback today if i may. I was out taking photos at a recent event and got asked for my website details, to which i replied 'I don't have one'. So i figured it was time i got one, and here it is: www.amatravers.co.uk Would you mind having a look and letting me know what you think etc? I only wanted something small to showcase a few pics and give people the ability to download albums and contact me if required etc. Many thanks.
pcstru Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 I'm here for a little feedback today if i may. On a quick look, IMO it is a good looking site with some nice work. That said, I hate sites which display nothing unless I allow scripts to run and generally I'll just close the tab at that point. I think it is reasonable these days for people to protect themselves from scripting and sites which demand JS before they display are therefore making unreasonable on users.
enjay Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 I'm here for a little feedback today if i may. At first glance, it looks like you only take photos of cars - I had to scroll down to see the other galleries. If you want to book work, you need to say whereabouts you are; there's nothing to say which country you're in let alone which city.

Fair point too. I've used Wix.com to make the website due to ease of use etc so i'm reliant on their technologies at the minute. I do agree with you, but I think most 'average' users will just let it run etc. At first glance, it looks like you only take photos of cars - I had to scroll down to see the other galleries. If you want to book work, you need to say whereabouts you are; there's nothing to say which country you're in let alone which city. Thanks mate. I might make the galleries a little smaller so it's more obvious to scroll down etc. Yeah there is plans to do a bio of some sort, not too sure where to put it though. Might just do a tag line somewhere etc. Edited August 2, 2016 by MrMat
aleach2 Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Hi MrMat, Just had a quick look and I think it looks great. Your pictures are sharp and bold. A little bio would be good to introduce the site, your work etc. Out of curiosity, what equipment do you use? Are you shooting full frame? Ad.
enjay Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Yeah there is plans to do a bio of some sort, not too sure where to put it though. Might just do a tag line somewhere etc. Make it somewhere nice and obvious, and somewhere Google's spiders will see. People will search for "wedding photographer in Birmingham" not just "wedding photographer" so make sure your page comes up in those results (you may therefore need to include lots of surrounding place names, so Solihull, Dudley, etc. too)
bald_pig Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Yup, whack a short intro up top, separate larger bio, and personally, I'd stack your photos vertically so you can see each category simultaneously.
MrMat Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Yup, whack a short intro up top, separate larger bio, and personally, I'd stack your photos vertically so you can see each category simultaneously. That's a good idea. I try it vertically and see how it looks. Cheers! Also just had a plan for some intro stuffs. Added! Hi MrMat, Just had a quick look and I think it looks great. Yeah full frame, i use a Sony A7 and mostly use old Canon FD Prime lenses (28mm, 50mm and 135mm) although i recently picked up the Sony 70-200mm F4 OGG (and it's utterly delicious!).
arwen Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 We went to see the Cornish Man Engine being unveiled last week. Very interesting bit of kit! -
