Close Encounters of the Third Kind

The Omen

Seventies classic films? Is there any better than Star Wars? :)

Time to blaspheme - having re-watched the film recently - they are way, way, way over rated. The original was quite pants when you go back and look at it objectively.

Classic 70's?

The Godfather I+II

Alien

Clockwork Orange

Rocky Horror Picture Show

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

The Omen

Papillon

Logan's Run - possibly? (just as cheesy as Star Wars and Planet of the Apes really)

Enter the Dragon

The Poseidon Adventure

Death Race 2000 (I'm going to have to allow Star Wars and The Exorcist at this rate)

Westworld

Convoy

The Man Who Would Be King

^My pic's from IMDBs 200 most popular 70's movies.

The original Mad Max film has more quotable lines than the second, although the second has an excellent character, The Warrior Woman. Shame they killed her off.

"I am the Nightrider. I'm a fuel injected suicide machine. I am the rocker, I am the roller, I am the out-of-controller! The Toecutter - he knows who I am. I am the Nightrider! I am the chosen one. The mighty hand of vengeance, sent down to strike the unroadworthy! I'm hotter than a rollin' dice. Step right up, chum, and watch the kid lay down the rubber road, ride to freedom!"

"The chain in those handcuffs is high-tensile steel. It'd take you ten minutes to hack through it with this. Now, if you're lucky, you could hack through your ankle in five minutes."
