Was pretty much the only guy in the cinema for this last night: I liked it. If a fairly traditional version of the tale is up your street, then it's worth a look. If anybody can find a source for a dress like the one Cinders' mum wears near the start of the film (that isn't one of the 3 not very close matches here) it might earn me a few brownie points!

sparkeh Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 (edited) "Before I go to sleep" - really enjoyed this, Colin Firth is his usual excellent self, nicole kidman isn't too annoying (delivers her usual frowning, looking down, then up and biting her lip type performance we have seen million times before from her) and mark strong is his usual brooding self. I really didn't see the twist coming which was nice. Have some issues with the last scene but not enough to spoil the film. Edited April 3, 2015 by sparkeh

It was so slow and boring. Nothing happened during the whole film until the end and it was so predictable. Each to their own though... I watched the imitation game last night and thought it was excellent. I also watched anchor man 2 recently and I was a bit disappointed. Not as good as the first.

StevieM Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Full Metal Jacket Controversially, I'm not a fan of Kubrick as a director, but I have to say that FMJ is one of my all-time favourite films; one of only a few to which I can genuinely give a 5* rating. While some of the dialogue is shockingly funny, particularly during the training, the humour is only one ingredient in a very powerful and occasionally distressing movie.

Thoroughly unbelievable, and took an unwarranted pop at Denniston , added a vehicle for Knightly, and missed out Dilly Knox completely (who was a FRIEND of Turing) but hey, that would spoil the "view" of the friendless loner wouldn't it?
