Sunnyknight Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 ...do you travel to work? Currently doing 80 miles a day... and its taking its toll a lil. Going loopy slowly... but surely. Now having to shout this while driving home.... and im not joking... as I slowly fall asleep otherwise... 'YEEEEAHHH WHAT ARR YOU LOOKING AT OOOOOHHH OOHHHH LETS DO THIS YAAAAAAA' Continue with singing the lyrics of a song... then slowly drifting away into my seat... 'UHHH OMG WHAT. HFHFUDDJE. WAKE UP. COME ON STAY AWAKE DAMNIT. 20 MORE MILES... WOOOOOOOOO YEEEAHHHH LALALLALALA' eyes start closing again... 'BLEUHUDHDJCHFHFJ STAY IN IT. DAMNIT STOP FALLING ASLEEP, random lyrics to song' Im sure people are looking at me thinking... what the f... is going on... I see grey hairs... at the age of... ha! No you don't. Help. Ive got to do this daily. Lol
bladedanny Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 12-14 miles round trip depending on which route I take so not too bad.
LincolnE Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 ~28 miles each way, so 56 a day total. It's not great, but I've had worse so can't complain. Almost all motorway so takes me about 35mins each way.
Arreks Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I either take the underground for 10 minutes or I cycle for 20 minutes, only live about 7 miles away so it'd cost too much to drive in comparison.
eyetea Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 20mile round trip, half of which is through small and windy country roads (Live down one!) Soon to be 5 mile round trip - thinking of walking! Might even get a fitbit from the fuel savings!!!
fairm010 Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 6 mile round trip for me. Going to start Cycling it soon!
pcstru Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 About 15 miles each way. I did 120 miles for about three years when I lived in Scotland - in a 998cc mini too. No wonder I lost my hair.
abillybob Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 40 Mile round trip in my car, shove the Ed Sheeran Album on, start singing, make sure to fill up my Travel Mug full of coffee and I'm ready!
sonofsanta Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 (edited) 37 miles/1 hour each way for coming up five years now. You need audiobooks. Audiobooks have kept me sane. Podcasts are good as well, but a story you want to follow helps more. Takes an hour 'cos it's 37 miles of Lincolnshire roads. What's a motorway? Edited July 17, 2014 by sonofsanta
denzal2k4 Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Currently 0.3 miles, soon to be 29 miles each way, my economical Seat Leon does it for 63 mpg give or take so not too costly.
JJanisch Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 1.5/2 miles round trip..... sorry. I do need to stop driving though and get on the bike...
Sunnyknight Posted July 17, 2014 Author Posted July 17, 2014 So in reality... I work too far from home... but given its a hospital.... thats normal? Right? Right? Tell me im right
Bananas Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 9 miles each way at the moment and it's all along the lovely A149 coast road, mornings is ok but afternoons can be tiring with the tourists "enjoying the view" at 20mph in a 60 but can't really complain. It's the one thing that's stopped me getting a new job. I hate being here but there's nowhere else i'm going to get this money and not have to drive 30 miles each way to the nearest city instead of working in the sticks
Oaktech Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 6 mile round trip... I've done the 50 miles each way commute and the road warrior thing and they suck. I've lost 3 Stone since I stopped the road warrior thing and started cycling to work on a regular basis.
Edu-IT Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 So in reality... I work too far from home... but given its a hospital.... thats normal? Right? Right? Tell me im right You can only call it work if you actually do something. ;-) But yes, that's quite a distance. What do you do at the Hospital?
HarryMonkey Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 20 miles (around 35-40 mins) each way. Fairly decent road once I get out of the town.
Sunnyknight Posted July 17, 2014 Author Posted July 17, 2014 You can only call it work if you actually do something. ;-) But yes, that's quite a distance. What do you do at the Hospital? Good point. Sit on the pc... and sit on the phone? Walk about. Basically all I did before. Lol
Edu-IT Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 nd sit on the phone? I suppose that's one way to avoid answering it!
Miscbrah Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 EEYYYyhhh Sunny's back. What do you do at the Hospital? Fightin'!
sonofsanta Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 So in reality... I work too far from home... but given its a hospital.... thats normal? Right? Right? Tell me im right Your home is a hospital? It suddenly all makes sense! 1
