I have started playing my Dungeon Keeper games again, amazing,

 

And i have managed to get Gabriel Knight - The Beast within (Review) on dos box on my mac so its in full screen, its awsome, might try to get RAMA working again

Does anyone remember The Quill? It allowed you to write your own text-based games for the Sinclair Spectrum.

 

A friend and I wrote a game called Pablo's Crazy Mansion which we managed to get published. I think we sold about 10 copies. It was totally bonkers. I've still got it on a cassette somewhere.

my first pc games were

my parents didnt and to a degree still dont believe in computers as entertainment devices. There were no consoles for us growing up as kids. My dad only relented and got an amstrad PC2086 (Intel 8086 CPU, 8 MHz, 640 KB RAM, VGA Graphics) when he needed to do stuff for work.

I could never land the sodding plane, you could also fly aF-117A if I remember rightly. While we are on the subject of microprose one of my all time favorites is X-Com UFO Enemy Unkown (UFO Defence in the states) such a fantastic game.

I think i had a copy of that on my Atari ST - came on about 3 floppys. I could take off and complete the mission but could never land the thing too.......

Ceaser 2 anyone, came with my first home PC along with Smart Suite, Encarta96 etc etc.

 

Could never get past the 1st level.

 

Soon got hold of Warcraft Orcs and Humans After that =]

 

a 11 yr old battling on a pc, my mum went crazy, the best thing was when i baught my first 56k flex modem with 6month of my pocket money. The internet on no!!!!

Lol, yes I had the same problem - managed to complete the missions then would balls it up by smacking the jet into the tarmac on the return landing....

The old debate of what was better the GameBoy (Nintendo) or GameGear (Sega) ... Discuss.

 

I still have my old Game Gear, really was much better than the game boy for its time, the only thing that let it down was the battery life, 6 AA batteries would get you 30 minutes of gameplay

 

Of course 30 minutes was all you needed when you were playing as the fastest thing alive

The old cartridge games, the GameGear was definitely more comfortable to hold, but GameBoy had more games.

That first screen is the copy protection I think, had many games with code books and wheels & some just used the manual, page 72 paragraph 2 line 3 word 5.

Also remember having to take stacks of floppy disks to my friends house when I was going to copy games and spending hours arj'ing or Pkzipping up the files. Still remember some of the commands.. I think.

I have vague memories of this game console but I recall that I just couldn't get excited by it as I couldn't see the point of it. The Japanese loved it according to Wikipedia.
