detjo Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Hi All Just about to start looking into Ultra short throw projectors for couple of rooms. Anybody got any recommendations for ultra short throw? I have Epson and Hitachi in mind but have yet to research them.

We've been putting Hitachi CPA222NM projectors in our classrooms on a rolling (ish) replacement program. Very nice, seem to work well, networkable for monitoring, although for the next batch of upgrades I'm thinking of interactive touch screens, which are now hitting about the same price as a projector and Smartboard.
GeekyPete Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Got about 20 Hitachi 220s and one later model (222 I think) they are good projectors. Nothing flash but they do what they say they will. Good remote feature that I don't really use. 4000-5000 hours out of a lamp is realistic.

Had a few problems with them from time to time, but the after-sales service is absolutely bang on! Report a problem, you get a replacement next day or the day after. They even extended the warranty from 3 to 5 years for a specific problem.

chazzy2501 Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 I have the slightly less lumins Epson eb475wi they are superb, £1000 for education, 5 year warranty and the bulbs are £80. Also included with the great wall bracket that makes installation a breeze. The picture is great at 1280x800. I have mine all at native 16:10 with 80+ Inch images. 11 installed so far by myself. The only issue is making sure the board you project onto is flat! (many wobbly whiteboards here Nice that you can use the whiteboard with normal pens when not in use (teachers like that feature)
ravens Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Epson make the EB-595Wi which makes any flat surface interactive. The projector "paints" an infra red grid up to 100" on the surface and then picks up pen or finger movements.
Oaktech Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Hitachi cp-a22x series here (220,221 and 222), we've got about 30 of them and had no problems bar one faulty lamp which was replaced under warranty.
