Has anybody seen any good deals on laptops ???

 

I am looking for one for my son with the following rough spec;

 

 

  • i7 CPU prefered
  • 8GB RAM or more
  • HDD 500GB 7200 rpm or more (possible SSD)
  • Wifi N 2.4ghz
  • DVD RW
  • 15" screen or more (depends on price)

 

He would like to play some games on it but nothing to major so really as good as can be would be great.

Not sure if they'll do so high spec machines - but Argos seem to have some decently priced laptops in lately... Might be worth a look?

 

 

no but saw that Asda are selling Samsung S3 mini for only £99

 

And a 32" TV for £99 - It's a Polaroid make but not bad priced!

Just been in Asda on the way into work. It's mad! Packed out and the electrical counter was swamped!

Was thinking about one of the TVs, but if they're that busy here it's probably not gonna happen :/

I hate this 'Black Friday' nonsense. It doesn't mean anything at all in the UK as most of us don't do Thanksgiving. Must we import yet another horrible consumerist USAism?

If we got some of the discounts the USA got I wouldn't mind but we get the British version, for example MS (USA) are doing the Surface for $199 or £121 to you and me. MS (UK) however will spank you for £279.

I was only in to get a copy of Minecraft they had plenty of blanks on the shelf but none behind the counter :(

I've brought it online instead.

The only reason I got served is that the mass at the electricals counter were all after the 'specials' and they had sent someone in the back to check stock. I think they may have only had standard stock levels in the store and were due to sell out rather rapidly.

I have to take the kids to school on Fridays and sometimes stop off at Asda on the way in to pick up bits and pieces before work. Usually the car park is quite empty at 09:15, but today is was ram-packed and one of the cash machines had run out of money!

It's going to be worse tomorrow I think. The last payday before Christmas is going to bring a lot of people out.

There seems to be a lot more fighting happening in Asda's "up north". :)

Margaret Green, 55, from North Tyneside, told newswires: "It was bedlam, chaos. It was absolutely jam-packed. There was lots of screaming and shouting. I'm surprised there weren't people on the floor. I found it disgusting. It was horrific."

A lot of the black friday deals, aren't.

 

2x 42in TVs in Asda, were £350 each. Same TVs online could be found for £275 online.

 

Game *the shop* had the WORST deals going...Game for example did elder scrolls anthology for 17.99 pc version...steam has it for 11.99. Or dishonored for 10.99 pc version, steam has it for 3.79, xbox one controller and charger combined - £74.99, separate it is £70, and online both could be found for combined price of £60

The entire thing is just proof that marketing wins over using brains.

 

People all clamouring for supposed deals which aren't actually any good.

 

Its one of the reasons I very rarely shop on a high street any more, the shops are all trying to rip you off. At least online you can compare and contrast instantly between outlets.

We had an 'Occasional Day' on Friday, so I browsed on-line for an hour or so, saw a 32" 3D Smart TV on eBuyer for £220, including 4 sets of glasses. Wasn't what I'd call a 'recognised' brand, Digihome, but it seemed like a good deal.

 

I was sorely tempted on the basis that if it blew up or conked out in some other manner, I'd have my present TV to fall back on.

 

Just never got round to clicking the button.
