Game *the shop* had the WORST deals going...Game for example did elder scrolls anthology for 17.99 pc version...steam has it for 11.99. Or dishonored for 10.99 pc version, steam has it for 3.79

A physical product and a non-existent digital version aren't comparable.

How much is it costing you to download it from Valve? [That Dishonoured one IS off, though.]

Also, GAME is crap. This is a thing we all know.

Sorry..."Games" PC games, which were sold online at the deal prices were steam/origin codes, no physical media involved.

Ah, yeah. That's silly.

I was thinking of the one near me that actually has physical copies of games. [as well as the full retail RRP for digital codes]

The gaming industry has turned into the industry; making money from nothing...

After all, why else would you be forced to pay £40 a year for XBL Gold to use something as basic as the XB1 web browser? Or tempting consumers to buy a pack to unlock content already unlockable in-game as a shortcut? How about fees just to change your character name in some games? Since I doubt the character is identified server-side as anything but a unique identifier code, it's basically paying to change the contents of a text field.

Everyone complains about it, but they STILL pay for it...

Pro-tip: Don't pay for it, it'll become cheaper or free.

Even fees to change servers seemed off to me...

Server transfers are a little trickier, you have to lift a complicated set of data from one server cluster and flawlessly insert it into the next. It gets a bit overpriced though...

TBH, it depends on what the backend is like.

For all we know, each character is set up as "charactername@playserver" on a single data server and all that needs to be changed is the "playserver" part.

A lot of this stuff could be done with code, which then makes ANY charges pointless.

WoW's fee to remake a character is annoying. All it does [i think] is unset/reset the "character is made" flag or set all character parts to 0. [if it works how I think it does.]

I think they charge to discourage people from doing it all the time, I think making it one time or a cooldown measured in years would be a more sane option. City of Heroes had a great idea, change your global handle twice then it is locked. At least until the chat server messed up and the unlock counts all reset. :D
