Judging by the sizes quoted in this article, I don't imagine that 500GB drive is going to last long!

Can't get my head around why some of these games are so big, 1.8GB for Angry Birds?!

 

I suppose it just means keeping your drive tidy when you no longer play a game. Shame the XB1 doesn't have a storage breakdown utility, only software though I'm sure it'll come

Perhaps its not as bad as we fear.

The first game, sure its going feel long but remember the xbox allows you to install/download games while you are playing another game.

 

Im holding off as the no native 1080p is the bigger deal breaker for me.

Im not sure I will get a console as my PC is holding up well. The only thing that may tempt me to get the xbox is when halo and destiny come out.

I probably won't get a PS4 as I am more invested in the Xbox.

In my experience, longer, not sure if mine is faulty but I usually leave it on overnight to install a game off a disk. Add to that, that I now can't play Ghosts because it demands a backup and has an 'error' trying to get it. I still think the X1 has great potential and when they get it up to release quality for NZ in six month to a year it will be great.

 

To be fair, when it is all working properly it is great, just seems to be unfinished especially for NZ, we still don't have the youtube app but they have the distastefulness to advertise it all over the front page of the app store, go to the link and no install option or response to @xboxsupport.

I've been really disappointed by the X1, mainly because i gave it such a big build up. It's very temperamental and seems to have lots of little issues that wernt on the 360. I'm confident they will all be sorted eventually, but it's not a great experience at the moment.

One tip if you are experiencing glitchyness. Turn on power saving (aka completely off) then turn the xbox off and reboot.

Generally I have not found installs that bad but grabbing the update will add a variable length of download time to the install. The games autoupdate like the system through the night at least.

The seller did say it was a photo in the auction. If I ran eBay, I certainly wouldn't give him a refund!

 

Despite the listing stating it was a photo of an XBox One Day One edition console, Mr Clatworthy said he'd expected to receive the console as it was listed in the video games and consoles category on eBay.

 

He said: "It said 'photo' and I was in two minds, but I looked at the description and the fact it was in the right category made me think it was genuine.

Neither would I...i have seen plenty of boxes, photos and such like advertised...i wouldnt go near one!

Got COD going again, just needed to delete it and reinstall it, you can tell they based it on windows server when the only repair option is a new install.

 

I do love the fact that their own forums suggest installing games disconnected from the internet as their software is incapable of behaving anything less than stupidly. I think the MS Access and MS Bob teams found their new homes in the xb1 division and they never bothered trying it on anything less than a 1gb link with a ping time of less than 10ms. Silly financial crisis meaning that MS has no QA team at all, or at best they are volunteers working one day a week.

 

I still can't get Xbox fitness to actually run despite reboots and reinstall.

No mention of what happens when you try to play game #21. Does it delete the game you haven't played for the longest time to make room? "automatic storage management" would suggest so, which means I can't see what the problem is.

I asked Microsoft this exact question at the Game lock-in I went to, the answer was no.

so 103GB is reserved for the hypervisor, OS, Apps, spare space, cache and the 5mins of video saving.

Having had time to think about it, It would surprise me if the 5Gb video is written direct to the HDD. Be an awful lot of wear on the drive. Given both consoles reserve a good 3Gb of the 8Gb RAM for 'OS stuff', I think the continuous video recording can easily fit in side that RAM reserve of both systems. I mean, how big is a 720p30 15min MP4 anyway? Few hundred Mb?

To be honest, if I have maxed a game out (achievement wise, or completed it), it gets traded in or sold. Never been an issue for me, so the 20 game "limit" isn't a problem

On the camera I sold, a 10 min 720p30 vid was close to 3GB

lol - I don't know how the XB1 manages it, but on the PS4 it's 15min and constant recording - PVR style. It's not "every now and again", it's constantly while you're playing the game. I'm pretty sure it's heavily compressed and in RAM, thus the large 3Gb reserves for the OS's on both systems.

The xboxone does constantly save 5 mins of gameplay continuously to the HD.
