LOL, Polygon were founded with $750,000 of Microsoft money. They often give PS exclusive games bad reviews in comparison.

Sony has never paid any seed money to any sites ever? or launched questionable marketing strategies with paid reviews etc. Stones in glass houses...

To assume they would breach their integrity is quite an accusation.

Since Polygon and The Verge are owned by the same company do you consider them as useless?

They often give PS exclusive games bad reviews in comparison to most other sites (TLOU and Ni No Kuni spring to mind).

They give the Sony versions of multiplatform games lower scores than the Xbox versions.

They gave CoD:Dog [i think] a lower score because of "framerate issues" when a patch was made which fixed it...

There were differences.... each platform is different....

Was the patch there at the time?

I am so glad I dont have to plug in the controls to charge EVERY day!

Lol, 7hours is ALOT of gameplay for 1 day! Still I'll run with my existing PS3 controller strategy...

2 controllers. 1 on charge, 1 in play. Swap over when it gets down to 1 bar.

That said, I'd much sooner AA batteries personally. Still the Xbox controllers have the left thumb stick in the wrong place so that's not perfect either ;)

I'm sure Sony and Nintendo have also done similar stunts to different degrees. I can personally state one of them used to give reviewers stuff to encourage good reviews, but it's on a different level in 2013.

That's the editor BTW. Their bias is quite well known, people get posts pulled from forums. Its quite a legendary thread on Neogaf.

There are other sites that have given the xboxone good reviews without bias, there are also others that give it more balanced reviews. Its going to be a good system, there's going to be some great games and I'm jealous you'll get to play them this week.

Some info found in the last few days:

Cold boot takes 1:08, standby boot is 18 seconds:

Hardware Test: Xbox One • Articles • Eurogamer.net

HD space used/free is not reported.

Cannot play music from external drives (or skydrive). CD, DLNA or subscription service only for now.

You can plug PS4/PS3 or 360 into the HDMI port lag free.

Weirdest one is dobly 5.1 or 7.1 isn't available by optical out:

The Xbox One: The Kotaku Review

Voice control is region locked: German, French and English supported.

Online streaming to Twitch delayed until 2014.

Uncut xboxone demo by IGN here:

It plays video via skydrive and mp3 support is coming too but at least I dont have to pay to listen to music.

I just hope there are no DOA ones (or minimal) and no xbox live outage like psn.

At least no early review boxes have been dead so far.

Taken from the Ars article linked above.

Scary how slow the PS4 is at boot up - 30sec. Most of it with nothing being outputed to the display. The XB1 was in game before PS4 had got to the main UI screen, ouch. I swear my PS3 doesn't take that long turning on.

Expect something, it's a launch console. In the spirit of good will, I hope whatever problems XB1 suffers from they are in the same low quantities as the PS4 problems have been.

One of the bonsus of getting the console 2 weeks after the yanks is being prepared for the problems and having newer firmware revisions. You've got a worldwide launch too look forward to...

Yeah I noticed it as slow as well when you factor in loading up a game, a standby mode is coming though which should help but who knows when.

The video showing voice was quite good I thought too http://bcove.me/2x9f9gyi

Regarding 5.1, I believe its all outputted via hdmi at least so its less of an issue.

Yeah it does make me wonder how MS will handle it, I would expect downloads to be slow/slower but as long as mutiplayer etc stays online I will be happy, offline for hours is bad on launch night.

AFIK game video recording gets saved there too, so you can do what you want with them. :)

DTS still works just not DD, so depends on your amp, modern stuff will support DTS. Most people just use HDMI anway.

XBL support did confirm no surround sound over HDMI in, stereo only.

Amazon shipping seems to be happening, a few people are picking them up too. Happy gaming!

I think you have to tell it to save there, by default I believe it uses somewhere else (watch the IGN uncut video you posted earlier)

Stupid nationalist Microsoft, apparently NZ, Australian and Irish English are too hard so voice rec for the dashboard and skype won't be supported till later.

Funny how it can work with all forms of 'merican and the metric boat load of accents in the UK though, thanks MS, we get it, you don't care. At least its better than Sony's if your not from the states you don't matter and can wait a couple more weeks for your console approach.

Still excited to get a hold of mine around 28 hours from now but less cool that MS is yet again shafting everyone else on voice support.

Don't let the logistics of a worldwide launch get in the way of a good moan ;) It's not as if Sony will have launched in more countries worldwide than Microsoft come the end of November (32 to Microsofts 21). Or the fact the two week grace as meant the yanks have troubleshooted the system for us and we already have an updated firmware for meny of the bugs they've found.

Edit: or for that matter that their are 193 UN member states. What do the other 172 think of Microsofts attude to a "Worldwide Launch"? The more interesting one of course is, what do the Japanese think of Sony making them wait until next February?

You hope ;) I am sure it will be fine, just like xbox live (hides head in sand - la la la la)

xboxone 'worldwide' release is 13 countries - Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Sweden and Switzerland have all been delayed until 2014.

Poor Japan, Microsoft are ignoring them because the 360 didn't really sell in Japan. Sony are delaying because they have no Japanese games.

Just be thankful that Microsoft haven't adopted the Vista approach to HDMI which was to treat any amp or receiver that was inbetween your pc and the TV as an 'Unauthorised device' and subsequently refused to play.

And Microsoft at the time was making a big play on how good Windows Media Center was!

It's a shame nobody told the graphics team.

Just to be clear:

If the 5.1 sound originated from something (360/PS3/PS4/WIIU/SATBOX) plugged into the HDMI IN on the xboxone it'll come out through the HDMI OUT as 2.0.

If the 5.1 sound originated from xboxone it'll come out through HDMI OUT as 5.1

No DD 5.1 via optical out, only DTS. Most "surround sound" headphones don't support DTS.

Hope that makes sense.

Amazingly, two friends of mine have 'won' Xboxes direct from MS to be delivered at the end of the month!

A brilliant move by MS because as a direct result I will inherit a free PS3 !!! (do they work with KB/mouse? I'm too old to learn newfangled controls, the Wii was bad enough)

The system does, the games (apart from one or two) don't.
