mats Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Thanks - ordered! Has yours arrived yet? I'm still waiting and despite having received an email from B&N saying my order is scheduled to ship (on 1st May) there's no order against my account. No "it's shipped" email yet either. I have also put an order in with currys who expect to deliver by the 14th so if B&N sort themselves out I may end up with a spare.
Gibbo Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I ordered from Sainsburys on Thursday and it came into my local store by Saturday morning. A colleague ordered Tuesday and it came in yesterday. Argos sold out instantly and were supposed to be getting more stock in last Tuesday, but haven't.
VeryPC_Tom_M Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Has yours arrived yet? I'm still waiting and despite having received an email from B&N saying my order is scheduled to ship (on 1st May) I ordered mine on the first, had a scheduled to ship email about 4 hours after I ordered.. but nothing's arrived yet.
gtg93 Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 (edited) Seems to be out of stock just about everywhere but PC World at the moment - anyone know when this offer ends? Edited May 9, 2013 by gtg93
JJonas Posted May 9, 2013 Author Posted May 9, 2013 14th May I believe. I managed to pick one up in my local Sainsburys. 1
Arthur Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Has yours arrived yet? Mine has. I ordered it directly from the Nook website on 1st May. I think I might root it and install this modified Kindle app (along with Dropbox).
JJonas Posted May 9, 2013 Author Posted May 9, 2013 Mine has. I ordered it directly from the Nook website on 1st May. I think I might root it and install this modified Kindle app (along with Dropbox). Hold off, I was reading that Nooks are to get official Google Play appstore support + you can format shift with Calibre
mats Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Had a play with Calibre last week - it's really nice. I suspect that using a dropbox directory for its data directory will make it work as a reader from different PCs too.
localzuk Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 (edited) Not arrived yet for me as far as I know (I ordered one as a gift for my mom). They somehow messed up my first order, which they cancelled and I placed another. It is sat 'in progress' on their site and they emailed saying they've got no stock left of the Simple one... So, it'll be dispatched when they have some more, or I can buy a more expensive one. Just checked with them on twitter, and they're telling everyone 3-4 business days. Some are replying that they were told that 5 days ago. Edited May 9, 2013 by localzuk

The eInk readers will not. www.androidpolice.com/2013/05/03/barnes-nobile-announces-google-play-for-the-nook-hd-and-hd-inches-them-closer-to-real-tablet-status/
JJonas Posted May 9, 2013 Author Posted May 9, 2013 I think you may be correct there. also Turn Your Rooted Nook Into the Ultimate Ereader with These 10 Apps
teddybear Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Think Nook have totally underestimated how popular this offer would be. I too ordered it on the first day, they had payment problems for everyone so all orders were cancelled. I ordered a new touch one, then got the e-mail saying there were none in stock so ordered the glow one (for my Mum's 60th). Tried e-mailing, tweeting, chatting, phoning, no help at all. Not the best advert for them. Not sure what/if I'm going to actually get anything, not had any e-mails from them since Satuday.

gtg93 Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Anyone actually received their's yet? Just got this from PC World who were supposedly in stock at the time of my order on the 9th May): Thank you for your recent PC WORLD order. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we regret to inform you that you may not receive your order within the delivery timescale indicated on the website. We will contact you shortly to discuss the matter with you, in the meantime please accept our apologies for the potential delay. They don't say! :/ Delivery date was supposed to be the 14th - still Nookless
Scifigirl Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 ordered mine from ASDA on the 10th- received by the 15th cool little gadget, though I still hate the punctuation issues here and there.
localzuk Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Yup, my Mom received the one I ordered for her last week.

Sorry - missed this at the time - yes, both (one for work, one for me personally) arrived ok one on about the 5th and the other around the 16th. Demand was intense I guess! mats Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Mine arrived from B&N last weds (14th). I quite like it (lovely daylight readable screen) - still reading free ebooks despite its best efforts to shove paid content under my nose.
Garacesh Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Anyone have any idea how, ah, 'tweakable' these are? (XDA is blocked at work sad times) I'm not particularly interested in the e-reader bit.. But if it could be converted into a cheap low-spec tablet..
SteveBentley Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Allegedly fairly easy to root and then you can install Google Play etc.
localzuk Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Which model are you talking about? Kinda need to be specific...
