I was just wondering if someone could explain how to get the client EP Deployment from an unmanaged state to a managed state so that we can remote push sets out from the sccm and issue full scans out for virus checking Thanks Nathan

Hi all, I am setting up a lab with windows7 machines and I want to add a little protection to certain folders/files. I have Centurion to restore the machines back to pristine state once they are restarted which is great. What I want to do is install a link to the server for a testing package the students will use with teacher directions. No AD, no Samba in place, each machine is on their own. I want to use both NWEA MAP and ExamView Test Player which require a link to the app on the server and a login to use. Now my issue that these folders need to have write access to save the text score data. Once kids figure they can right click and find the server path they could potentially start messing up files on the server. Does anyone have a way to prevent right click, or protect certain desktop icons/folders? It just dawned on me that the best solution may be to create another user on the machine that is only available for testing. Then when a teacher wants to use those programs we will log into those accounts only (which will be passwd prot and hidden from login screen). Is this the best practice? Thanks for the feedback on this, most appreciated.

Hi. We've recently installed DPM 2010 (trialing at the moment) on our new network to provide us with the backup solution. At the moment, I've installed the agent on our two file servers and think its great so far. It backs up to an iSCSI disk on another physical server running FREENAS. It all seems to work fine except several times a day, under 'Management' > Agents it shows unavailable and I get the following emails: "DPM failed to communicate with fileserv1.domain because the computer is unreachable. " "The protection agent operation failed because it could not communicate with fileserv1.domain" I have turned off firewalls on both the DPM server and the clients I am backing up. Sometimes if i right click on the agent and click refresh information, it changes to 'OK'. Which means our backups aren't guaranteed and some synchronizations do not occur. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi All, We have recently purchased 28 shinny new HP G6 450 Probooks, which were an honest bargain, at around £350 each with cash back, and would love to keep them that way. Are there any laptop cases / shells / skins out there that you would recommend? I have seen some mCover ones online at £23+, but no idea how good at protecting the laptops they are? Any thoughts greatly received...
