Hi I'm just wondering if anyone has any good ideas they would like to share about assessment tracking like what mark sheets and individual reports they think is really beneficial and helpful to school.

Hi I am trying to create an individual report which has a pie chart showing number of different types of achievements gained in the academic year. I want to be able to publish this to Parents hence why needs to be in Individual Reports. Potentially I can dump the data from SIMS and calculate the totals and reimport it back in if needed. What I cannot then seem to so is to make a Pie Chart from this data. Does anyone have a userguide on adding charts to Ind Reports please? or even any tips on how to do this please? Thanks

When emailing multiple assessment reports to Form Tutors only the first report is being sent - same with parents of twins. I am assuming there is something somewhere in the settings where you can set intouch to send multiple reports (similar to surpress duplicates in reports) Has anyone had similar issues and know where the pesky little tick box is hidden? TIA

Hi All, I am having and have had the issue below for several months now. When we open sims and run an individual report, we can get to the stage whereby we print them off, but when printing more than one off at a time, SIMS crashes. I have checked printer spoolers, drivers, system services, sfc scans (suggested by capita), updating SIMS, hundreds of patches it seems by this point..... We are an RM school and havent encountered any issues with SIMS before version 7.184.0 updated in October last year..... but Capita maintain its not a SIMS issue..... Capita have been looking at this for ages now and cannot fix the issue, Has anyone had this issue and can someone help? event log shows two events at crashing: Application error: Faulting application name: Pulsar.exe, version: 7.186.31.0, time stamp: 0x5c8f958fFaulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll, version: 10.0.16299.820, time stamp: 0x917adac5Exception code: 0xe0434352Fault offset: 0x001045a2Faulting process ID: 0x3410Faulting application start time: 0x01d4eea23392ce53Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS .net\Pulsar.exeFaulting module path: C:\Windows\System32\KERNELBASE.dllReport ID: 5896a3e5-41a8-487f-b6b5-23e89de9c9e9Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: .Net runtime error: Application: Pulsar.exeFramework Version: v4.0.30319Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception.Exception Info: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException at System.RuntimeType.InvokeDispMethod(System.String, System.Reflection.BindingFlags, System.Object, System.Object[], Boolean[], Int32, System.String[]) at System.RuntimeType.InvokeMember(System.String, System.Reflection.BindingFlags, System.Reflection.Binder, System.Object, System.Object[], System.Reflection.ParameterModifier[], System.Globalization.CultureInfo, System.String[]) at SIMS.Processes.ExternalApplication.doPrintingForMSWord(System.Collections.ArrayList) at SIMS.Processes.ExternalApplication.doPrintingForMicrosoft(System.String[]) at SIMS.Processes.ExternalApplication.PrintDocuments(System.String[]) at SIMS.UserInterfaces.ASMDlgGenerateReport.processThread() at System.Threading.ThreadHelper.ThreadStart_Context(System.Object) at System.Threading.ExecutionContext.RunInternal(System.Threading.ExecutionContext, System.Threading.ContextCallback, System.Object, Boolean) at System.Threading.ExecutionContext.Run(System.Threading.ExecutionContext, System.Threading.ContextCallback, System.Object, Boolean) at System.Threading.ExecutionContext.Run(System.Threading.ExecutionContext, System.Threading.ContextCallback, System.Object) at System.Threading.ThreadHelper.ThreadStart() Regards Daniel

Since half term I have tried previewing a whole tutor group, which I have never had a problem with previously. However, it previews the reports in a random order, eg the first six students appear, followed by the last six in the tutor group, then the middle six etc. This happens with both new templates and old templates which I had not had problems with previously and also prints the reports in the same random order. We have not had any SIMS upgrades over half term so I do not understand why it has just started happening. Has anyone else had this problem and, if so, can you suggest how I can fix it? Capita said that we need to add the latest Window 7 pack to the server and that should solve the problem. However, our network manager said that we already have the latest version.

Hello, Can anyone please help me with this? I have started to update last year's Y11 Individual Report and when I close the Word Template SIMS hangs and I have to end the task. My colleague gets the same error when she tries it on her PC. We both use Word 2016 and are on the Summer release. This crashing of SIMS occurs on any existing Individual Report we try and even if we create a new Individual Report, then open the Word Template and close it without making an edit. I checked Task Manager to see if Word was still open despite appearing to close normally and saw that it was not showing up as still running. I connected to our virtual SIMS Server via MSTC which has Word 2010. Opening any Individual Report's Word Template and closing it worked properly on the Server with Word 2010 but it would be impractical to carry out this work on the Server.

Just wondering if anyone would mind sharing their experiences of using alternatives to InTouch and SLG. We currently have SLG and I hate it, so difficult to administrate and parents hardly bother with it, and we use Teachers2Parents for sending emails and texts. However this can only send generic letters, and I really want to get something that will enable me to email out Individual Reports, Profiles and Timetables to students/parents. Currently looking at PS Connect, Edulink, SchoolComms or Groupcall. They all seem to have their pros and cons, and all say you can email out reports, but is this actually true or is it that parents can log into the app to see the reports (like SLG which we had a poor take up on)? I'm nervous of signing up for the SIMS Parent App as it is so new in development. Also wondering whether you get a lot of complaints about the apps - looking at the app reviews, they are all very poor, especially Groupcall Xpressions, with lots of people saying they can't login or access the data they should. The idea is to make my job more streamlined and efficient, not add to it with lots or parent complaints! Thanks in advance

Hi Guys, Hopefully you can help! I've been designing our end of term report templates and hit a bit of a problem. Each subject has it's own table which works fine when a student takes every subject but if a subject is not taken we need the table to disappear. The rows where the data goes disappear fine with the 'Hide rows with no results' box ticked but the headings remain. Is there any way to get the headings to vanish as well? Thanks for any advice that can be offered!

Hello... I am hoping someone out thee can help. When generating students reports in the 'Individual Report' function in assessment manager (sims) the below issues keep happening: • Results fields are displaying tags instead of the result • Not all the subjects that each pupil is studying is pulling through on the report but they do have inputs for November • The report is pulling through subjects that aren’t running this year What have we done to rectify this? • Created brand new reports • Verified the templates • Updated course memberships • Removed the school logo as when you verify the template it says logos may affect the report • Changed which printer the report will be sent to None of the above has worked. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Emma

I'm looking for a reliable way of proofreading en masse a set of comments for Individual Reports, Specifically for 'Name' errors. I am already doing largely successful checks for gender errors and capitalisation checks on subject names. Incidentally if this helps anyone, my method for doing this is as follows: Gender Error Checks: Ensure the 'Gender' field is visible on the marksheet, export academic yeargroup to Excel, filter on gender, copy/paste to Word then do 'whole word' (case sensitive) for female pupils: he, him, his, himself, for male pupils: she, her, herself. I then also do spell checks and grammar checks. Copy/paste back into Excel and Import to SIMS. This is fine for obvious stuff, but context errors and name errors are another matter and these have to be done manually (which is important anyway) - this method is just a way of filtering out a lot of the really simple obvious stuff. N.B. Please don't suggest that we switch to 'Profiles' - that's not goping to happen unless Capita make massive improvements to it. Thanks!

Does anyone have any ideas? We've set up a new SIMS installation at a school with whch we're federated, and I'm trying to set up individual reports containing assessment data. The reports sometimes preview correctly, but never print, export or upload. More than 50% of the time they don't preview either. What happens is the progress bar comes up, displays "generating", then as the generation finishes and it's about to preview/print/export, I get a windows Error message "Sims.net has encountered an error and has had to close..." I've worked through the relevant checklists regarding tables and security settings and random number and all that, and I've tried to generate on three different versions of Word. I'm currently using Office 2003, and that's the only office suite that's installed. It's been most stable this way. It's a VM ware machine running Windows XP, but I've tried it on a physical machine and found the same difficulty. I've been working on this for three months now, I've missed at least two deadlines, and I'm still no nearer a solution. I could produce a mail merge with results exported from SIMS into excel and then merged into Word, but that's not going to be the best way to have the most up-to-date results and that won't upload to Linked Documents. I'm seriously struggling with this. I've been doing exactly the same thing at my usual school for the best part of four years without so much as a sniff of trouble, I just can't see what's going wrong. I maintain that the problem lies with our SIMS install, but I can't get Capita to admit to anything. Anyone ever come up against anything like this before?

Hi all, Does anyone know of a way to get special characters from an Aspect into an Individual Report? The Lower School report will be going into SIMS for the first time and their old one had stars for certain things, not numbers (ie 5 stars, 4 stars etc). They also used the Square Root symbol as a 'tick' (Ugh!). Wingdings has what I'm after but no matter what I try I can't get the Wingdings font to be used. I tried copying from Character Map and pasting into the Grade Descriptions. No go: on the report it either gives that character in Ariel (or whatever) and if I change the font of the whole tag to Wingdings (and get a bunch of weird characters in the template) it fails to recognise the tag when generated. I've even tried doing an If Then Else in AM to add the stars to a comment field, but it just replaces the text with questions marks. I thought I'd have a poke in the macros to see if I could change the font after it had switched tag for data, but they're all password protected. Anyone got any idea before I resort to either Asterisks or telling the Lower School that it can't be done? Many thanks!
