Because a plumber is at least a £40 callout charge - whereas some of us may have had experience with similar setups, or may, perhaps, have plumbers in the family/friends/circle of trust who may be able to suggest a couple of things to try before getting a plumber in - which ideally, any decent plumber would want you to do - sure, they get £40, but they have to trek across to your house to turn 1 valve, make everything happy again, and then trek back.

Just one other check - your DFS namespace, it's in domain mode, is it 2008 or higher - if you click on it in DFS management it should show above the namespace list in a grey bar. Or maybe some of the bits vaguely mentioned in https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc732414(v=ws.11).aspx - maybe a get-dfsnroot may show up some setting that's getting out of site referrals

That's interesting - MS blog posts suggest that DFS should follow sites and services. Useful to know for future expansions!

Just enabled one of our exam logins, and as soon as I was able to logon I was able to get the DFS share available. So doesn't look like by design. Security logs on servers show which DC handles the logon and which handles the DFS request and which denies and which allows?

I'll see if I can find a disabled account or disable an account, leave it half an hour and then enable it to test for you. I don't recall having seen an issue in the past, but haven't specifically tested that case.

Egg sucking, but sites and services in use? Just wondering whether there's a delay in replicating to second site, but it's trying to use second site server when referencing DFS root. Other thing to do to test, in your DFS namespace, remove all but one server, see if issue persists, then add your other servers back.

Do you have multiple DCs and are they the namespace servers? Are they replicating happily?

So your first link is an unvented cylinder - this is not a boiler, but may well have an immersion heater in to heat the water - but it may also be fed from boiler as well. The longer thin (from a brief google) appears to be a flow boiler and this will be what's heating your water. It's difficult to tell without seeing your piping arrangement as to what feeds what, or exactly where the issue lies, but as others have said, it sounds like it may be air or pressure related. Have you noticed in improvement since you've got the pressure up to 1.5bar?

Ask him if the burgalar alarm and fire alarm, school phone system, all lights, any electrical equipment in the boiler room are turned off when the building is unoccupied if that's the reasoning. Network equipment should be treated as any other infrastructure, and nowadays, quite a few alarm systems report back over network rather than phone line.

Transceivers from Fibre to 10/100/1000base-T I'm guessing would be the issue here, unless firewall/router has slots available.

Other query is router wise what's going in, it would ideally need 2 VLAN interfaces on it with 2 IPs - one relating to each network, then it's "internal" interface connected to a switch port configured as trunk, allowing both vlans, and have the port configured for fibre to be trunk allowing the VLAN for the school across the fibre link (done this way so in future can easily add further VLANs if you wish), same with port on other side of fibre link. Switch ports in each school then set as access with relevant default vlan assigned (I can never remember which way round tagging vs untagging goes - Huawei using default vlan so...)

That sounds like a codec negotiation issue - I've seen that over IAX2/SIP combination - worth checking what codecs you have setup in priority order to your endpoints as I've seen asterisk apparently struggle with transcoding across multiple, worth checking they match the codec used on the gamma side of things.

Cornwall is a definite one. Not sure how easy Wells-next-the-sea is to get to by train, but the beach there is good, and a relatively quiet little place with some interesting places to venture nearby.

Morning all, One of our academies is looking at getting a camcorder for various events (don't worry about legal aspects etc, this is just about the kit). They have requested something similar to the Sony A1E (which is an old tape based thing), so I'm thinking semi-pro camera. Anyone have any ideas? I'm thinking possibly Canon XA30 with wireless mic to allow better pick up, but does anyone have any experience at the bottom end of the pro scales? Thanks Will

The pre-v4 to v4 upgrade does a lot of nominal remapping and things, which is what makes it more complex and why they suggest a consultant does it. The V4 to V6 doesn't really have this remapping, so should be easier. It is possible to do the pre-v4 to V4 yourself, but may need some support - I was fortunate to be in contact with the guy who wrote the upgrade who assisted with my queries - this does also mean that I have a fair idea of where lots of things sit in PSF. I think we had to pay £45 for the upgrade disc, but you could probably argue this away.

That's interesting - we keep the same application pool, so user IDs stored in DB should remain the same. The installation program shouldn't remove or create the application pool, I think the creation of the pool is somewhere in the instructions, but if you don't remove the old one, you should be able to just use it in place. The info is stored in the PSFSYSTEM db, under aspnet_personalization*. If it's something that is the same across all users, you could potentially make a change in the personalizationallusers table and this will apply across all (unless they have a per user). I think if you make the change you want as 1 user, then use SQL to take the data across from peruser to allusers this works (been a little while since I've done it). And the every little thing being chargeable has been raised with them. They are starting to realise what the education market requires in comparison to corporate sector, and hopefully their pricing will shift to understand that too.

OK, if you search in myportal for purchasing documents of type req do you see it? If you take a note of the REQ number before you authorise it, then we can look in DB directly for it as well. When finance can't find it, do they have search criteria in, or blank them all and look for suppliers with items? V4 was 2014, they then skipped a number and V6 has been released this summer. The chargeable is for installation (ie consultancy to install it). The V4 to V6 upgrade is apparently relatively easy as there aren't nominal remaps etc, so should be installable by someone with SQL knowledge (I'm due to do a test on this in the next week). Docs for self install have just been completed. I know I may not restore your faith in PSF, but if I can assist in you using it as that's what you've got, then that's fine

Does it loose the report or does it loose the widget for reports (and if you readd the widget does the report reappear)? If it's the first, check out the M_WEB_REPORTS and M_WEB_REPORTS_CATEGORIES tables - should allow you to make them in bulk. If it's the second, are you recreating the ASP.net application pool each time or doing something with that?
