I did restart the server, we had a powercut and got the message that some services didn't start when coming back up, the drive is definitely mapped (doesn't even connect on the server itself). I'll go check those services - thanks mate

Hi guys, wasn't quite sure where to put this... We're having a problem this morning where every user is getting 'Sims connection failed for Login ######, reason 0' I think it could be that some services aren't running on the server, does anyone know which services need to be running for sims to work? (Thought i'd post it here as you guys respond faster than capita ) Cheers, Dom

Our PE Teachers use them so they can show video's anywhere.

My brother-in-law is one, [email protected] As a side note, dell resellers save TONNES on servers, I think we saved about 4 grand from one we specced up from dell website when buying through him!

I might add that now they are fixed they are very good, and the instant power off is awesome.

We just got 5 brand new X6's, 4 of them had a fault with a loose cable inside, looks like there may have been a faulty batch... be warned

Yeah theres a client version that comes as an MSI, very simple to deploy. I used it at my last place and can't recommend it more, it does however seem to have issues occasionally when more than one teacher is watching the same room. It has some great features and the application blockers are awesome! Also unlike most monitoring software, the kids can't tell if they're being watched, there isn't even a screen flicker Dom

It's generally 25/AP, but i'd get a couple just to be sure.

If they've worked in education before they'll have more than likely spotted a loopback, but if they've come from an industrial background you're probably being a bit too specific, you could ask them what steps they would take if the network goes down.

Which version of word are you using?

Contact your suppliers, they can probably custom build one for you.

Is this everywhere?

Yeah that's it

We just got a micro projector (fits in the palm of your hand) and I was amazed at the quality! not sure how much it was but was definitely under 500, and saves you lugging a big one round

I was just about to say that

Not sure about your problem but wouldn't a local admin account be better, just incase the kids accidentally stumble across your user area's?

At my old school the rugby lads went on tour and the PE teachers did a blog on blogspot - The MFG Under 15 Rugby Tour to South Africa I didn't look at creating one but they seemed to manage ok and weren't too techie!

Yeah tosh support is awesome.

Like i said, I hate the current setup, i could easily set them to wipe but my line manager doesn't want me changing anything serverside. I've been doing a few things in secret to make my life a bit easier but I think he'll notice when I'm sat at my desk when i should be deleting profiles lol. He also doesn't want me doing them remotely despite it being far quicker.

I'll take a look into this soon, thanks for your help!

It doesn't seem to be particular users, each student has their own roaming profile (locked down) which synchronises user data and application data. I only recently started here and HATE the setup but my boss seems adament that we're keeping it. I have to remove local users from docs and settings once/twice a week as sometimes they do not delete themselves, but it still hangs after this has happened.
-
Yeah i have that installed and local profiles look fine, i do suspect that it is a profile issue though.

I have a problem with random computers on the network hanging at 'saving your settings', I've checked msconfig, done virus/spyware scans and disabled sophos but it still seems to be occuring. Has anyone had this issue before?

What are you trying to do?
