  1. 1. For the file copy, you can use something like RoboCopy which will copy across the files and ACL's too. 2. If using the ADMT, you can keep the SIDHistory which will allow these users to access te newly copied file.
  2. Your optio is to ask your ISP/Inty to hold the message for you, then you can release them after you have Exch installed. This NEW change your doing is something you really need to consider, cant you just work with the current domain and fix any issue you have? Why not introduct an new DC then rebuild the others, What rebuild a new domain?
  3. It should actually be easier if youre using ISA
  4. 1. Go for virtualisation but be aware of the caveats and what you can and cant virtualise. 2. In particular Exch...you can virtualise but remeber what to use DAG reple v Vmware.
  5. Well, you can still do this, but it's not automatic, in terms of configuring the profile, however, all the user has to do is input their credentials when Outlook is opened. How can I configure RPC over HTTP/S on Exchange 2003 (single server scenario)?
  6. 1. Depends on what version of Exch and Outlook your using? 2. If 2007/2010 (exch and Out) then all this is done for you bu Autodiscover, you just need to make sure you implment this.
  7. 1. Well for Outlook, why dont you use OA? Access via HTTPS/RPC
  8. Your MX records, where are they poiting, surely most of this would be picked up by the AV/AS your using? Also, if you want, instead of removing authenticated users, what you can do is create another DL. Create contacts for your staff, then add these contacts to the DL, specify that DL so message are only received from those in the DL. You can if you wish ass the students to that DL too. This way only users/contacts in that DL can send to that DL.
  9. Np, What you mean you have to allow all mailto go thought to get this to work? Is there a concern?
  10. Click on the users and groups and find the DL
  11. 1. Yes, you need to set permission for staff to be able to send. You can either remove authentication or set it. 2. To remove you must have access to the live@edu console right, 1. Click the Distribution Group name as you want to set #2. Click the "Properties" #3. Click the "Mail Flow Settings" Tab #4. Click the "Message Delivery Restrictions" item #5. Click the "Properties..." button #6. Uncheck the "Require that all senders are authenticated" item #7. Click "OK" button #8. Click "OK" button again
  12. 1. Check the restrictions on the DL and see if user are required to be authenticated. 2. What error do you get or NDR?
  13. @PaulO99 - Np, when you get started let me know, of if there's any specifics areas youre not too sure about, I'll help you as much as I can.
  14. 1. If you break each one day, write a script and do it for yourself. In particular for Exch and AD, powershell can do all of that.
  15. 1. For HA/FT have a minimum of 2 DC which are also configured as GC. Make sure they both are also DNS and DHCP server. 2. You can configure DHCP on seperate server from DC but I wouldnt as it's prcessing is very small. 3. As for DHCP, you can maybe have both activated with a scope on both so you have an active/active config and configure them so that if one fails not all your clients will be effected, you can easily include the scope of the failed DHCP server. 4. As for DNS. I would make every DC you deploy also a DNS server, and let AD take car of replications. This gives you HA/FT. 5. If youre using Exch,or plan to, then you willl have a challenge and you will have to plan in the HA/FT/NLB. This can have a direct impact on the number of DC/GC you have.
  16. Hi 1. Still not too sure what you mean. If you have Exch deployed, you already have an AD. So any user in the forest can use Outlook and logon usind the AD credentials (SSO). 2. Not sure what youre getting at, if it helps, I can PM you my number or you PM me your and I'll have a quick chat with you.
  17. 1. Is the Exch server and Outlook in the same forest? If yes it should work.
  18. 1. Exch 2003 SP2 is fully supported to talk to Windows 2008 R2 directory servers (DC/GC) so no issue here. 2. The base OS for Exch doesnt support W2K8 so must remain on 2003 R2 is supported. Sukh
  19. 1. I would hold off for abit, just in cae. 2. Even with rolllup 4 for Exch 2010 SP1 there are some minor issues reported but they appear to be env specific and not general to all env.
  20. Quite a few fixes there which may help your env. Description of Update Rollup 4 for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 3
  21. This is the way you would do it for other shared calendars (shared mailboxes) so yes.
  22. @Zag - You can do it via Live@Edu once you have PS access, if the backend is Exch 2007 then use the same command, if it'x Exch 2010 then use the below Search-Mailbox -Identity "Stident" -SearchQuery 'Subject:"Name of Subject"' -DeleteContent @Chris/BandGeekMafia - Exmerge supports 2000/2003/2007, 2010 no longer supports Exmerge. If you run Exmerger against 2007 you have to do it on a management PC not from the Exch server, i.e which meets the sys requirements. Sukh
  23. 1. Then youre good to go. 2. Does it show Exch being installed in the programs applet, if not then fo, however, if you cant see the Exch 2010 svr in ADSIedit then you should be fine. 3. What I would do, just before you do anyting, is run a quick health check using the ExchBPA 4. BTW, your other 3 exch servers, what veriosn are they?
  24. 1. If I understand your issue see this - How To: Remove Header from Outgoing Mails in Exchange 2007 « Exchange Server Share 2. If not PM me your header so I can see what you mean. Sukh
  25. What doesnt appear? The server in ADSIEDIt?
