I would put them on separate switches using the spare fiber cores personally.

Been using the 10gbit switch in our core for a few months and its worked brilliantly so far. Blazingly quick and for 500 quid you can't go wrong!

Oliver by softlink is nice and works totally in the cloud now. So good to get rid of another server! The Speed is excellent.

https://www.3dvista.com/ with a go Pro Fusion camera is great! Cost would be about 800 quid for both of those so not too bad.

Ahh OK yes Sandisk and Crucial are budget brands for sure. Samsung or Intel just don't fail from our experience.

We've never had an SSD die and have probably bought over 1000 on Windows 7. Which brand are you using?
-
We just use a hardware Inateck drive duplicator. It was less than £100 so well worth it.

You can still collaborate between systems, its not like you have to choose one or the other to work together -
I tested but just got a black screen. No idea whats wrong.

Has anyone put it on Hyper-V? Just struggling getting the VM imported.

You could try copying a file over the network switch and then on a small 10gb switch and compare the results.

Scope of IT Manager for cashless catering system.

Ahh OK thanks, yeh we moved away from Tucasi after years of waiting for them to build a proper cloud platform. We moved to their hosted database solution but it wasn't web based and we continued to get sync issues. Hopefully one day the company will move onto a reliable cloud offering. The way the software worked was actually fine. -

How do you (electronically) get basic info about new starters?
supportman replied to pete's topic in MIS Systems
TASC Insight Parent Portal can handle Pre-Admissions data and then you can get the parents to login securely and update their live Sims data. All you need is their initial email address to create the accounts. Things like medical info and personal details are all present so it covers most things. -
Isn't that the job of some other software though? 4matrix or Sims discover?

Bootstrap is a modern responsive GUI web framework, its an excellent choice.

If its for email, then Office 365 is basically a cloud server. Most schools will have already done this.

Finally got mine activated with MAK using this command, there seems to be a bug stopping you entering a MAK key if you dont have a KMS server. This works though: Open powershell as administrator cscript c:\windows\system32\slmgr.vbs /ipk **enter product key here**

Well the modern way to do it is to sit down for 6 months and create a "minimum viable product" such as a clean simple student/staff/parent database for new customers and iterate at speed. Then over time, build out all the features of the MIS through small separate local teams with clear goals. Onboard a small set of users and use them for quick feedback. From what I can tell from the roadmap they seem to be trying to build the entire Sims 7 onto the cloud in some kind of monolith migration. Thats going to cause issues especially as all our schools databases are probably different over time and have all kinds of edge cases. We had a really good talk in our school about devops recently where a guy talked about all this and the dangers of large software migrations.

Which is exactly the reason while AGILE development is the way forward.

If its just a test server, you could use something like rack mounted NUC's. This is what I do with all my test stuff now in the server rack.

Transition to google environment from windows WAN
supportman replied to swpmre's topic in Cloud Services
Loads of US schools are going this way so its great to hear some schools on this side of the pond are testing it out. Personally I think its a great idea. Simple management, cloud based, safe environment and pretty future proof.
