Still rocking UBlock Origin here - haven't had any reason to switch!

Just gonna chime in here with my experience of UniFi - mid sized primary school, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it at all. We've been running UniFi kit for about 5 years now and it hasn't missed a beat. Once you start to get into large secondary schools, or colleges, that is when UniFi begins to falter. We started with WiFi, which was leagues ahead of the Xirrus system put in a few years prior which had caused numerous issues. UniFi was a simple and cost effective replacement, which is exactly what we were looking for at the time. If you don't need all the bells and whistles of Aruba or Cisco, UniFi will comfortably handle what you throw at it. Our team was so impressed at the time, we ended up replacing all of the switch hardware to UniFi and its still going strong. *hopefully not jinxing us* but we've never had a serious issue with any of the kit. We have a couple of spare switches and APs ready to take over if the kit does go down, which is a necessary precaution due to the lack of support, but we've never had to use them. Any minor issues have been easily sorted by browsing forums or YT vids. UniFi kit does seem to blur the line between consumer and enterprise grade, which is why I think some places are quick to dismiss, but I don't think you can knock them when it comes to value for money. As always, it all depends on what you need from the equipment

Excited about seeing the Enterprise F outside of Star Trek Online, the fan who designed that must be over the moon. Do hope we get a flashback to the E though, was always my favourite tied with the refit in the motion picture. Also, why is everything so dark? Is the federation also experiencing an energy crisis?

We're currently going through the migration process to Arbor and made use of the pay for one. I think it is a great offer and played a fairly large part in convincing SLT and the finance team it was the best time to switch. I will mention that when we went through procurement with Bromcom, we were never informed of the buy back scheme.

We're in the same situation, none of our suppliers have been able to get stock. Have been wondering if I could turn one of our older USB Brother label printers into a Air Print compatible printer via a bit of tweaking in Windows. Haven't played around with it yet though. Hoping that they get these issues sorted soon, we've just purchased the Sign In system...

Started in 2013 as an IT apprentice fresh from Sixth Form, working with an ICT Network manager at one site (full time on apprentice minimum wage working 37 hours) In 2015 I finished the apprenticeship and was made permanent (term time + 2 weeks) 2017 came along and the ICT Network Manager was made redundant, they kept me on. Didn't get a new title or a bump in pay By 2019 I'd had enough and told them I was chucking in the towel as I was doing the job of two people for an IT tech wage. They quickly righted that. Got the ICT Network Manager title and a considerable bump in pay. Even though we had different titles, I carried out the exact same work and roles as the Network Manager while I was a tech - probably what let the old network manager being made redundant as I'd carry out most of the work anyway + how many 2-form primary schools have two permanent IT staff?!? Even as an apprentice I was surprised Been ticking along ever since, few things have changed about my role. Can sum it up to everything which has a plug is my responsibility....

Currently with Senso but we're trialing Classroom Cloud at this moment due to Senso requiring a login for their web browser as our pupils (primary) do not currently have Microsoft 365 accounts. Also tried Impero's offering, and then quickly realised why we switched away from them a few years ago! Overall, Classroom Cloud seems a fairly well built piece of software. As with all keyword monitoring apps, it is restricted what it can do by Apple and you don't get the full safari style experience, but it works well enough for our primary to be able to do basic web browsing - haven't found any sites which struggle in it. Keyword monitoring appears to be quite effective, although I haven't yet rolled it out to our classrooms to put it to the test. The whole platform isn't as full featured as Senso from the IT management side, but they do throw in NetSupport for no extra cost* which has the missing features. *at least until the cloud version is a little more fleshed out. My only real gripe with the iPad client is that it doesn't currently allow you to copy images from web pages, which we're able to work around that by taking a screenshot but I have raised it as a feature request. Also, the UI of the web portal could do with a once over as there's a lot of menus within menus, especially when you've come from Senso which has a pretty good UI in my opinion, and the decision to sort everything into classes rather than device lists like Senso has taken some getting used to. Worth giving a trial though, we'll probably be switching to it as iPads are now our most used devices, and I haven't come across a better offering. I'm still surprised after all these years that the Apple platform is the most neglected when it comes to these systems, most of the time an afterthought.

We currently use Inventry and have been for about 7 years now. We're looking to move away from Inventry to Sign In App - I've found Inventry to have become slow, unresponsive and just difficult to work with sometimes. Their new fire evac app is a mess, with it often crashing and showing incorrect staff and visitor numbers. Also it seems to sign out the user fairly often from the app, prompting them to reenter email and password, which is not ideal when dealing with a fire evac situation. I've just started a trial with Sign In App and it appears to do everything which Inventry did, but for less cost-wise.

I'm a little wary of that HP trade in programme* - when we explored that route, it turned out the devices were priced higher than they normally would be and the saving was very little when all was considered. Also had to deal with the hassle of claiming the cashback. *I did only check with one supplier, as our usual supplier ended up undercutting the price with a Lenovo machine vs the HP

We have 30 across the site, with 1 in each classroom. With UniFi, getting the power levels and channels right is a must I've found alternating between the 'wide' channels for 2.4ghz (1,6 & 11) & 5ghz helps a lot when APs are in close proximity

There is a parallax option in the interface settings, turn that off - It fixed the majority of performance issues I was having in the menus. I've also found that playing in a party of more than 3 increases the chance of crashing exponentially. Gameplay is great, although I'm not a lover of the new perk system. Having two of the perk slots unavailable till late in the match, seems to unbalance the game. Especially when a perk like Ghost isn't available early on with the UAV spam. I'm also finding most of the maps are 'okay', I haven't played on what I would consider a standout map along the lines of Terminal or Estate from the previous MW2. I expect that to be remedied in updates, as I doubt they'd pass up the chance to remaster a few of those old maps.

We use Yealink WH63's for our office T46S handsets As above - Fairly expensive but seems as though the novelty has worn off as they are hardly used now. Never heard any complaints from staff though, they quite liked them. Noise cancelling and other options are configurable via software

Echoing what other have said here but work tends to stay at the same level however, my regular duties do get superseded by more festive jobs. Accompanying our choir to sing carols, organising Santa & reindeer visit etc.... I do enjoy updating our school wallpaper and putting a Santa hat on our logo, trying to add something new each year. Even better this year with our MDM for our iPads means they don't miss out on the festive background. Oh...it's the little things

[bROMCOM] Bromcom Performance - Page 2 (edugeek.net) This thread seems to point out that Bromcom has had a few growing pains with the recent influx of users. We're hoping to get the ball rolling fairly soon - met with all the big names and so far Arbor is my preferred choice. We unfortunately need to keep FMS running for awhile as the Business Manager is a bit reluctant to move from that yet. Our choice is limited by what the LA dictates with our current SIMS support provider recommending that we move to a platform called Access Education Finance. Anybody have any experience with this?
