It's available for free if you setup and use your own Microsoft tenant. SLT here have mandated that we are to use the HWB tenant and nothing else so we have no other option. The majority of our teaching resources have been uploaded to the HWB Microsoft tenant, this was done before Welsh Assembly Government started asking for consent, which started happening I think in September last year, long after GDPR implementation. If staff here do not consent to using the additional services they are unable to do their job effectively. If pupils here do not consent they will be unable to access the majority of learning resources. So staff and pupils have no option but to consent. That is the part that I feel contravenes the part in the GDPR that says users should not be disadvantaged by not giving consent. Or words to that effect.

It does here. Microsoft Office 365 is heavily embedded in the curriculum, to the point where the teachers could not teach effectively without it.

And....isn't there something in GDPR that states nobody should be disadvantaged by not agreeing to consent? Telling users that they will not be able to access resources that aid in teaching and learning if they don't consent seems to go against this does it not?

Definitely a hardware issue if it's crashing whilst in the BIOS. CPU voltages would be a good place to start as @jonbd has suggested.

We've been using Blue Iris for the past 6 years and can't fault it for the price (about £50). Can monitor up to 64 cameras. Can setup groups of cameras. Can delegate access to specific cameras and/or groups. Can record when motion detected.

I use the OneDrive sync client to sync SharePoint libraries.

You'll be hard pushed to find a decent Windows device below £200. What do you envisage using the devices for?

it's not just this school then!! We purchased a second monitor for a few members of staff - mainly those who deal with budgets and timetables (sprawling spreadsheets). All of a sudden every teacher "needed" a second screen immediately to help them teach!! And so ensued a rush to spend thousands of pounds on monitors/splitters/cables, money that could (and probably should) have been better spent elsewhere.

I am guilty of fixing (or attempting to fix) staff personal laptops in the past; I don't do it anymore. Offerings of incentives "dried-up" after a while (a packet of biscuits would have been plenty, I'm not greedy). It got to the point where it became more than me doing them a favour, it became almost an expectation that I will fix anything for anybody - not any more. I don't like saying no to people, but when people start taking the biscuits (literally), they can go elsewhere!

We have started using VeryPC for our bulk purchases and our experience with them has been very good. Friendly customer services and quick delivery. I haven't need to return anything to them yet ("touch wood") so I can't comment on the returns process.

But if the OP is monitoring a ping to the PC's IP and those ping returns stop when the PSU is unplugged from that PC I think it's a fair bet that the pings are going to that PC, or am I over-simplifying things?

Does a tracert command to the IP reveal a route change when the PC is off?

But that wouldn't explain why unplugging the PSU on the PC stops the ping returns. It's a head-scratcher!

I've also had trouble with eBuyer in the past. We purchased 30 computers from them a while back. They arrived on a Friday; my technician and I started unpacking them on the Monday and completed the physical installation on the Tuesday. It became apparent that one of the computers was "dead on arrival", it refused to power up. I contacted eBuyer to notify them and arrange the return of the one computer. They refused to take it back, stating that their terms & conditions require them to be notified of any faults within 48 hours of delivery. After several emails and telephone discussions with customer services they point blank refused to help. I won't use them for bulk purchases again, so they have lost out on a lot of business all because they wouldn't accept a return of a computer worth less than £300.

Do you have the option of trying a VGA cable connection instead?

Does the HDMI cable run from the PC output to the projector via a wall mounted plate? Or does the PC output connect directly to the projector input? If the former, have you tried connecting the PC output directly to the projector input to rule out a problem with the cable run from the wall plate or the plate itself?

We use Lansweeper for network inventory and can highly recommend it.

We use LTSB here, on about 500 computers! Does this mean we have to deploy a different Windows 10 version to have continued support?

Another thing to consider is that Bitlocker is Microsoft proprietary, I'm not sure you can access a Bitlockered USB on Linux, Chrome OS or Mac OS. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

You could use a network audit tool on a free trial. We use Lansweeper which has an excellent SQL reporting facility and would be able to interrogate things like OS version. It is completely client free too, so just install it on your server and let it scan all switche don machines on the network.
