  1. Hi All, Is anyone able to recommend a Papercut Reseller? Out support expired in July and out current reseller(XMA) have basically been blanking us, not responding to emails and phone calls going unanswered. So I'd like to get a support quote from elsewhere. Don't need any actual copier licenses, that's being done through the copier lease. This is literally just the support & maintenance for Papercut. Thanks in advance!
  2. I have android users download the radius server certificate and install it on their device as a Wifi certificate. Once they've gone through the steps their Android connects with no problems.
  3. Following this as someone who is also going to be involved in a new build. Whole school is moving to a purpose-built building, current ETA is January 2025 for the move.
  4. We're a sixth form with BYOD for all students who choose to bring something in(phone/tablet/laptop). Social media is blocked for students for safeguarding reasons, doesn't stop them trying to use VPN applications to bypass filtering. So it's a little like playing wack a mole blocking these things. Our web filtering is done on our Firewall(Palo Alto + their URl filtering). Don't yet do SSL Decryption on BYOD as it's a headache I don't think I'm ready for.
  5. In our case specifically we use the remote desktop web access HTML5 portal for the few non cloud resources, plus select staff using the gateway for remote desktop to their office PC.
  6. Can always do a remote desktop gateway/web access? Can also be configured with Office 365 MFA if you use it already. Or something like HAP+, it has a sub forum here.
  7. We moved to Oliver last summer and have gone down the app route. Students install the softlink app and once signed in can just scan the barcode of a book to check it out.
  8. Alright on the server room UPS front, runtime testing earlier this year showed it's good for about 50 minutes. Come September I'm buying a UPS for the IT Office to cover us briefly in case of a during the day power cut. Otherwise I just need to get Powerchute to also shut down the SAN once it's finished turning ESX hosts off in the event of power loss & low UPS battery. Do need to look into the air conditioning though! I've just got two standard Daikin units, so I don't think they'll auto restart on power failure.
  9. Thank you!
  10. Hi All, We're getting Paxton fully installed on the 15th August and given tightish timeline before enrollment starts on the 25th, I'm trying to be proactive and get Salamander integration setup in advance. I've gone ahead and installed the Net2 software on a new VM(installers will upgrade to Pro when they come). However Salamander say they require the qemclient.msi installed on the Salamander server, so far I can't find this installer. Can anyone point me in the right direction? The most I could find is an setupoem.msi in the SDK download, but thats about it. Thanks!
  11. I have this on newly imaged computers before they run policy cycles. If it's an existing PC it might be worth trying an SCCM client reinstall via the console.
  12. Thanks for the headsup, I'll hold off installing for a few more days then.
  13. We name computers after the room they're in. Current scheme is SchoolInitialsDT-RoomNumber-ComputerNumber. So the first computer would be 01 and so on.
  14. Thanks, we do use the cards with Inventry as well. That'd be very handy!
  15. Thank you, I'll give this a go! Shoyuld be a one time thing, as all new users will go directly into Paxton in the first place.
  16. Hi All, The Business Director is charging ahead with replaing our Xplan door control system with Paxton Net2 over the Easter Holidays. My main concern is ensuring the as many peoples cards still work after Easter as possible, however from what I can see Net2 doesn't read Mifare cards in the same way that plan does. Does anyone know a way to convert cards numbers from a Plan to the Net2 format? I've had a very quick play with the free version and it seems to read mifare cards in the same way that Inventry and Papercut does, so it is as simple as nabbing the numbers from Papercut?
  17. Currently about 6TB in use, accross both LUNs. That everything on the san, not just user file storage. Total capacity is about 34TB(we were supposed to be moving sites completely this year and doubling the school in size, so I sized up this san to allow for expansion). Have 480 students and about 60 or so staff.
  18. Ahh ok, i can't find any reference in the document to general public advice. The only specific mention is removal of the guidance for schools.
  19. That no longer applies, the guidance to test twice a week has been dropped.
  20. We've gone with option 2 for the few Android devices that require it. The certificate is stored within the IT pages of our VLE along with some instructions.
  21. Pretty much. If the machine is pre-assigned to a user in Intune it'll install any programs assigned to to the user. Otherwise it'll do anything thats machine based.
  22. What you can do is allow 'white glove OOBE' in intune. Then on your enrolled laptop press the windows key 5 times(when it's at the language choice screen) and you'll then be able to pre-provision it and then reseal it in the box. So when user then gets the device it's roughly ready and will only let them login with their school email address. The Microsoft article is here if interested.
  23. 2 per desk at a minimum for me. Plus allowing a handful of spares to allow for flexible replacement of a printer or more computer provision in the future. Plus as others have said one high level point per room as well.
  24. With Sibelius there should really be a license server, might be worth checking a windows pc with Sibelius(if they have any) and that'll tell you the license server details if you can't find the server initially.
  25. I can recommend Palo Alto, been running them both here and at my previous school. In terms of MFA for RDP I just have a server running the Microsoft add on.
