  1. Sorry for the delay. Happens on desktops & laptops and the network card drivers are the same. So far all of the computers tested have been an in place upgrade, rather than a fresh install.
  2. We're testing the 1803 update on IT Dept computers and most things are working normally. However we use ManageEngine as our helpdesk software, and on every 1803 computer we've tested it's painfully slow. Doesn't matter if you use IE, Firefox or Chrome it's painfully slow. Only when using Edge does ManageEngine then perform normally. Just to add the problem doesn't happen on any other OS or version of Windows 10. We're a bit baffled and can't find any obvious cause. Has anyone experienced this?
  3. We're an independent day & boarding school with 750 pupils and 1/4 of those boarding. 8 of us in total under the umbrella of IT. Director of IT: budget & strategic planning, is in overall charge of department. All IT staff report to him, so structure is essentially flat Deputy Director of IT: Deputises for Director of IT, solely responsibly for cyber security & disaster recovery as well as back end of the telephony system. Also responsible for major projects. Network Assistant(me): responsible for day to day running of the network & server infrastructure, third line support. Helpdesk Manager: Second Line support, responsible for ensuring SLA's are not being exceeded. Also plans annual desktop replacements and deals with classroom AV kit. Deals with ordering of day to day supplies. IT Apprentice: First Line support, also responsible for ensuring IT equipment in Houses is in working order and consumable replacement 2 X developers: Our MIS was made in house, so they're responsible for maintenance as well as for the Intranet Reprographics tech: As it sounds
  4. All of our switches are managed and go onto a management vlan, which is then through an ACL only accessible from the IT Administrative vlan.
  5. We don't completely disable Cortana, but turn it off with GPO as many pupils & staff found the login popup annoying. Most of the modern apps are removed during the task sequence via a power shell script.
  6. We don't have as many computers(about 500 or so) however we use a combination of SCCM and App-v.
  7. We use ManageEngine here for a similar purpose. We share a Helpdesk system with our prep school. The email that users send to is the same([email protected]), but we have custom request views based on the associated site of the requester.
  8. Think I've now solved my own problem. But for the benefit of anyone else that has to deploy Chemsketch. Change the install location, by default it installs to the root of the C drive. Changing it to Program Files fixes and problem and means standard users can open the program.
  9. We're having a problem with Chemsketch. Does anyone have a workaround for it needing to be run as administrator to open? We have it deployed via App-v and always get this error 'Cannot establish connection with ACDHost. Error: Interface bit supported Bit of backstory, Chemsketch always used to work but the department wanted a newer version. Unfortunately the guy that sequenced it initially has left. Thanks in advance, Chris
