Maybe you could put a shelf up with lips so it doesn't get pushed off? I've never heard of a wall mount of a PC, if you get a TV one make sure it can hold the amount of weight you're putting on it.

We have 1,600 students and with that just under 700 PCs and 130 laptops.

I'd always be weary of massive input lag on something like this, I'm assuming it's just essentially a remote desktop connection?

Windows updates not been applied since 2017
ShellfishClive replied to chekmate1984's topic in Windows 10
I wouldn't update them all at the same time, I'd probably wait until Christmas and do some manual updating on a batch of machines to gauge the time it will take and roll the updates out daily while the staff are out. Probably better to just make a new build on the latest version of Windows and re-image though because you'll get this problem every time you re-image a machine with the old build after updating. -

Look at toast notifications: https://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/show-a-custom-toast-notification-on-windows-10/ -
It could be that the installation file needs to close another application or it isn't closing Explorer properly. Have you tried running it as Admin to see it is a permission issue?

Help identifying Promethean lead
ShellfishClive replied to maxrebo's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
I think it's a connection specific to Promethean boards, I'm sure entirely sure it has a name. I've been googling for a bit but come up with nothing, probably best to get in touch with Promethean and ask them about it.- 1 reply

Windows 10 empty downloads folder on log off
ShellfishClive replied to HanwellFields's topic in Windows 10
You should be able to point to the share that is their drive then. Replace the path with \\shared-drive\$env:username\downloads not sure how you have it setup though so tweak it to your actual path.- 15 replies

Windows 10 empty downloads folder on log off
ShellfishClive replied to HanwellFields's topic in Windows 10
Sorry I thought you wanted to folder deleted, I misread. Remove-Item -Path $env:UserProfile\Downloads\*.* -Recurse -Force That should delete all the contents but keep the folder.- 15 replies

The test should be quite easy, I don't drink Coke that much as it's super sticky on my teeth it's an instant giveaway. I drink an unhealthy amount of Pepsi Max though.

Is there anywhere in the entire world I can get one of these from? My company attends the BETT show however I didn't attend last year so I couldn't grab one of the newer ones. This only came about becasue I was looking for a tool and found the lanyard described in one of my colleague's drawer, it's probably been their years and never seen the light of day and he won't give me it. 😒😢 I have searched and seen this posted a few times and in an older thread from 2016 there was mention of a online store the new site or something, is this still the case? Or is there a place I can buy one from?

Files are only encrypted during upload and I think download but they are not encrypted at rest. Microsoft have stated the reasons why this is, because decryption on shared files takes a while and sometimes can't be done by an end user etc.In all honesty once your files are on OneDrive they are pretty secure, short of a Microsoft data leak.

2GB should be fine tbh it depends on the CPU too as long as they don't have lots of tabs open they should be able to handle it alright, £99 is pretty cheap so I can't imagine the build quality to be good.

These days having an Anti-Virus on top of Windows Defender isn't a huge deal, I think issues start to arise when you install two third party AVs. You could test this if you had the time by running both at the same time to see if it slows machines down or what not. The "biggest" problem you most likely face is that, if they both detect malicous files on a machine they will both report back, I havn't used Sophos but I assume it reports back to a central service somewhere, if that isn't the case you should be fine. Windows Defender is pretty dormant when it's running.

I agree, was just checking if that was done by other people. -

Those airships were like 3 polygons stuck together, graphics have changed so much over the last 2 decades.
