No, Disc brakes are great if you do lots of wet riding or stuff that contains mud, the wet and mud will hardly hinder disc brakes, not sure why but know this through experience. Also a wheel can flex alot when doing alot of hard riding (you probably won't notice it though) and weak wheels will buckle. Disc brakes wouldn't be effected by this due to being attached to the hub. V Brakes will start rubbing and will cause aload of fuss if you buckle your wheel V Brakes are alot easier to tune though, can get them exactly where you want with the amount of pull on the lever exactly how you want it, and it so easy I learn't how to do it at the age of 12 or something. Disc brakes tend to be abit more tricky to tune, but it's still possible and will have less problems in the long run. Disc pads and maintenance I found tends to be more expensive too. But then I splashed out not long ago on some Hope Mini Mono Hydo's so I'm sorted for a long time

Comparing the two bikes, the Suspension forks on the Specialized are a much better manufacturer, and this will be reflected in the build of the forks. Rock Shox build very good, reliable forks. SR Suntour on the other hand.. you will be lucky if they last 6 months. The drivetrain on the specialized is also very slightly better, the Alivio mechs tend to be slightly smoother and more robust, but there isn't alot in it. Still whacking it on a rock with break it. The Shimano crankset again would be better, on the Specialized, but there isn't alot that can go totally wrong with it if your not doing big, stupid things. So this is fairly even. Shimano would be alot easier and cheaper to get replacement parts if anything does go wrong. As for your brake situation, both look to be fairly cheap, so aren't going to be super dooper or anything. The disc brakes would be better, but getting the V brakes set up correctly will be just as good. You'd only notice the difference when the brakes get wet and muddy. Other than that, they don't look all that different. If i had a choice I would go for the Hardrock.

One of the bikes I used when I first started biking was a Barracuda XC300 I soon destroyed it by jumping a 20ft long jump.. but unless you intending on jumping anything that big it'd probably do you fine. Also, look up Felt bikes. I know there's something around £320 which doesn't look bad at all

The ribbon cable which connects the screen to the circuit board has broken on my Sony Erricson W300i. I love this phone and don't want to lose everything on it. And so, if anyone has an old Sony Erricson W300i which they no longer use, screen is cracked/broken but (technically) still works, keyboard doesn't work or anything like that I would love to take it off your hands for parts. For staff to get email they have to use a web based outlook (because we use Exchange and haven't discovered software to use on Mac which will run happily with Exchange 2003), therefore to be able to read attachments on emails they have to download them (because Safari is rubbish IMO). At the moment it is set to download to the users downloads folder in the home area on our Xserve which has terabytes of free space. We also don't set disc quotas on the home areas yet. However, today when a member of staff tried to retrieve her attachments (which was a 60KB file in word) Safari brought up an error saying it can't download due to the lack of free space. Obviously 1.7TB isn't enough for a 60KB Word file! I've checked all permissions and they all look fine. Has anyone experienced this before and know how to fix it? It's only started today and has me puzzled.

I know what you mean, this should work. I'll set the permission as read/write to everyone and see how that goes. Have you had any problems with the proxy settings, or general updating from the internet on the central server point? this is either from the update manager or the Sophos Anti Virus. Still can't get this to work for some reason, just says it can't find the server.

Is anyone using Sophos on their Mac network, and using the Update Manager on a server to bring down the updates onto the network update clients from a share? I've set our server to download the updates, then the client to update from the server. However for this to happen Staff, and technically students, have to have read and write permissions to the network share on the server that the updates are downloaded to, therefore they could potentially delete or damage any of these files. And, to me, there isn't an obvious way round this. If they are set to read only, the update on the client fails. Also, now having problems getting updates to download to the server. It worked last week, came in today and it's stopped working. Not happy with Sophos so far. Has anyone managed to get this working and secure? Or using another Anti Virus on their mac network?

You can happily compare Jacko so The Beetles, Nirvana, Elvis, any other act that pretty much changed the course of music to something different. It seemed like he thought he could genuinely change the world through music, for this reason could be classed as a legend. He was HUGE for god knows how long, still is in some areas of the world and has a great supportive fan base, therefore he must have been doing something right and can be classed as a world class entertainer. For these reasons we should think of his death to be a great loss, not exactly mourn like his your family dog, but he deserves a bit of respect. BUT Whether the pedophilia rumors are true or not.. he still made some STUPID mistakes in his career, had stupid ideas, and tried to do some really stupid things. Whether he started changing his body and appearance, or if his nose actually fell off in the shower, or it was some illness that made him look the way he is, I don't like him, I don't like his personality much, I don't like his music unless I'm stupidly drunk and feel like listening to cheesy music. I'm certainly not going to say it's no loss to the world, but it certainly doesn't need all the coverage on media and it certainly doesn't need a world mourning session.
