Did you try normal Group Policy or Group Policy Preferences before? GPP is definitely picky about when it works and when it doesn't, but the regular Group Policy settings (under Computer Configuration/Policies/Administrative Template/System/Power Management) have always been rock solid for us.

We use a combination of the spamhaus blocklists (as per NickBro's post above), Dyn Email Gateway that runs all our incoming mail through SpamAssassin before it reaches our Exchange server, and the built-in Exchange 2010 anti-spam. (Probably in that order of effectiveness.)

IIRC, under FERPA they are legally forbidden from data mining student information, so they must have the capability to disable that processing for edu accounts. I'd be extremely surprised if they decided to switch it back on for non-US customers just because they don't mention the relevant laws in their ToS or privacy policy. Of course, actually getting a straight answer out of Google on this, or anything else, is like trying to get blood from a stone.

It's a holdover from poor Shared Calendar support in Exchange OWA. Microsoft largely abandoned shared calendars a couple of years ago and want us to do it all in SharePoint calendars instead, which is a ridiculous stance given that even in SharePoint 2013 the calendars are still pretty basic compared to Exchange. Meanwhile, calendaring just works in Google Apps, and has CalDAV and ICS support. We now export our whole-school shared calendar to Google Calendar so that staff and parents can at least have a read-only copy on their phones.

Indeed, and you can actually turn off ads almost entirely within the core Google Apps suite for education accounts. We're not exactly the product as much as we are a breeding ground for future loyal Google users. As for the whole Microsoft vs. Google thing, I don't think either is worse than the other in terms of business practice at this point. There are certainly worse out there. I remember a parent talking recently about how he despised Microsoft in schools, and and how he refused to use Windows at home, and how we should be using open source as much as possible. Then it came out that most of his home hardware was Apple, a company that has done more to create a closed software ecosystem than probably any other in history. I resisted the urge to call him a hypocrite as apparently insulting customers isn't good for the school's pupil numbers.

I've noticed the same on home broadband, our staff are scattered around from London to Sheffield according to Meraki. Our 3G iPads sometimes show up in Newbury where Vodafone's HQ is.

Yes, there is nothing stopping you from having EES and Office 365. That's what we do here. If you buy the Office desktop apps through Office 365, the license is tied to the user account. You do not get a serial number for Office, and the user has to sign in to their Office 365 credentials in order for the copy of Office to activate. Any user that does not sign in using an Office 365 account (or uses an account without a subscription) will be told that Office is not licensed and will get severely reduced functionality, or none at all.

Do you need any drivers for this or is it simply a case of plug in the USB adaptor and Windows recognises it?

You might be out of luck with this tuner then, or at least the drivers you are using. I know some DVB drivers are fussy about automatically detecting settings, but the only other options you could set are ones such as transmission mode, guard interval, and FEC code rate under Advanced Options, and you need to know the precise details of the DVB mux in order to set them so they aren't normally necessary. Some drivers don't support direct access to the tuner at all, and that might be what you're looking at here. Out of interest, have you tried changing the Tuner card setting to 1 to see if you have any more luck with the second tuner?

Try setting the Bandwidth dropdown to 8MHz instead of Automatic.

Copy everything into a folder in a Local .PST using your normal account, then setup Outlook again with your O365 account and copy from the local .PST to O365.

Seems shifty to me. He has probably changed the status to shipped to avoid having to deal with you as if he cancelled the transaction on eBay you would have to consent to the cancellation. I wouldn't worry too much about it; leave honest feedback if you wish, and count yourself lucky you don't have to deal with someone that unreliable.

I've had some experience with Netgear ProSafe kit, and it isn't terrible (you could certainly do worse), but I'd go for the ProCurve personally. All my wired networking kit here is ProCurve and I've only ever encountered 1 problem with it in nearly 4 years. As someone who despises pretty much everything else HP does, that's saying something.

This is roughly the way I did it. I actually ended up with the new DCs and DNS servers having the same IPs as the old ones, by changing the IP addresses once I had decommissioned the old servers. Didn't really encounter any major problems. The only complication you might need to consider is if one of your existing servers is running an internal Certificate Authority, as transferring an existing CA from one server to another is not as simple as it sounds.

Yes. In fact, you can assign different plans on a per-user basis, and even individual features from plans. For example, you could choose to give someone an A2 plan but not Exchange Online. We do this as we currently still use our on-premises Exchange but do use SharePoint Online. Basically you just buy a number of plan licenses (even the A2 licences are technically 'purchased' at a cost of £0.00) and then assign them as you see fit.

That is correct. And you'll need to make sure you budget for any staff/pupils joining mid year as you can't just wing it until renewal like you can with EES.
