  1. Weve checked everything and still no joy!
  2. We have had a problem arise where a teacher at our school cannot access a student's home folder. He can access every other student's folder but not this one particular student's. The message reads: The student can access the folder. This is happening on the terminal servers we have in the school's farm. However, if the same teacher tries to access the home folder on a fat client, he can get into the folder. I have checked the security settings and compared them to another student's that can be accessed and i have deleted the teacher's RDS profile data and the student's. Thanks in advance for any help, Leigh
  3. Hi Dom. Matter of fact, we get our keyboards and stuff from Silicon Alley lol
  4. Hi everyone, Just wondering if anyone else has this problem but as you all must know, adobe reader has gone to version 11.0.03. We run XP machines in our secondary school and are having PCs have a pop up window indicating there is a new update from 10.1.4 to 11.0.03. We have has people installing the new version but then when they go to open a PDF file, the program stays blank and will not open correctly. We then uninstall 11.0.03 and install 10.1.4 but then we realise the unistallation of 11 messes up Internet Explorer, throwing up a error message and then closing. We are having to then reset the internet settings for all the machines affected which can be time consuming as the settings are linked with individual users. Does anyone know how we can go to 11 which the problem of opening PDF files? Thanks in advance, Leigh
  5. Hi, We currently have a spam filter in place which doesn't seem to be doing the job so we was wondering what software everyone uses. Also, what do you think of the software? I've looked into: Iomart - http://www.iomartcloud.com/mail-filtering Altman - http://www.altman.co.uk/email-security/email-filtering/email-filtering-for-education Censornet - http://www.censornet.com/en/products/mailsafe They all seem fairly good. Suggestions please? Thanks

  11. I didnt fancy going to uni last year when i finished my A-Levels (IT, Business Studies and Sociology). I was a bit confused on where to go instead of uni. I looked on the internet for apprenticeships in the field of work i wanted (IT). I got an interview with a company dealing with apprenticeships and got a place to train as a ITP (IT Practitioner/IT Technician). However, this was only a Level 2 NVQ (aquiviliant to GCSE grades) so once i finished the 6 month course, i decided to go ahead and do my Level 3 NVQ in the same field. I got to choose an external placement to continue the course. I chose to go back to my secondary school to become one of their technicial support staff and all has been ok from there. Apprenticeships build up your experience to add to your CV and to make you more employable as well as earning you a bit of dosh while you train
