  1. I had a sales guy from this company come into school to demo the product for school. It looked very impressive, but i thought it was quite pricey though.... After weighing up what it offered, i came to the conclusion that teachers wouldnt use it to its full potential so we didnt go forward with the purchase
  2. just a suggestion, and i had to do this as part of my interview process. We were told what facilities the school had, and was shown around the school. Later on we were asked "based on what u have seen...... what improvement would u make to the IT around school....." I also had to do a written test..... with questions like, 1)what does DHCP stand for and what does it do. 2)What would be your backup strategy... 3) which is the most secure out of the following protocals, HTTP, FTP, HTTPS 4) how would u test that the network card is working on the machine.... The practical exam was i had 4 machines and had to find the fault and get logged on 1) Mouse and Keyboard connectors swapped 2) Network lead just pulled out, but looks like its plugged in 3) Monitor colour turned right down 4) Created a mess with the network leads, plugged then from computer to computer... etc
  3. We are leaving things as they are, dont have the money to upgrade much anyway, We ran loads of sessions with about 30 pupils max per session, this is cause we dont have the machines available to run large sessions. I thought in the documentation it told you now to run more then one session at a time?
  4. I thought that is what SYSPREP did. It gets rid of the computers SID and after ghosting like you have mentioned the SID is created on first boot. This is how we have always dont it, and ive never had any issues.. Can someone confirm to me that SYSPREP does remove the computers SID
  5. Have to agree with the general feeling about the HP 2600n, I bought 3 of these printers over the summer, and they are very good, and they all get a good hammering.... i only get told when the ink has ran out.... 1 is located in the library and is used as a central printer, 1 in staff room and 1 in office... not had a problem with any of them!
  6. I have to reboot my linksys router on a daily basis, i think its something to do with the high usage of bittorrent. I need to change it i think, but at the moment im on NTL and am moving house, and NTL dont supply there netowrk there, so will wait and get ADSL one.....
  7. i must be blind, ive just been looking on the site to see if i could notice nething.... thanks for pointing that out to me guys!
  8. I know this is nothing to do with your problem, But have u had the new updated software for this year come through yet? I thought that if you took part in the Pilot last year, that u was automatically approved for the tests this year.... or do i have to go through the audit once again. thanks
  9. how do you force users to press CTRL+ALT+DEL before login, is there a setting in the GPO and would that be applied to users OU or OU where the machines are? We have this problem quite often.
  10. Im now getting a Error 404 Not Found , The requested item could not be located. What ive noticed now is that, when u type in the name of the webserver eg http://webserver/ it is finding the intranet on the web server... but when u try to access the site through the server ip address it cant find the webserver. This is only happening on the isa server, all other client and servers can access the intranet either though ip addess or servername Any suggestion thanks
  11. well i have just noticed something wired, and im guessing ISA server is blocking something.... because i can get to the web server on any machine internally and view the pages, but when i come to do this from the ISA server it cant seem to find the webserver.... but i can ping from the isa server using IP and server name and it pings fine..... Could this a possible reason why it cant seem to forward traffic onto the webserver??
  12. I tried publishing it as just a server using the wizard, and i still had no luck with it Any suggestions would be grateful
  13. Ive just had a look at that... when it asks you to select a protocol, one for HTTP doesnt seem to appear, does that mean i have to create a new protocol for HTTP.... but i know one already exists within ISA
  14. Hi Im trying to publish our school intranet site to the world. Im running 2k3 and ISA 2004 and 2k3 and IIS6 on the web server. I think i have set up IIS6 correctly, and we can get the site to work perfectly on the internal network, but whenever i try and access it from outside of school i get an IE error saying Error Code 64: Host not available Background: The connection to the Web server was lost Now i know that the URL is getting into school and to the ISA box, because i can see it when i am monitoring on ISA... It just seems to be that there is problem communicating between the 2 server. I used the web publishing wizard within ISA 2004 Can anyone help.. or put out where to look? Thanks
  15. I use EMBC (East Midlands - Leicester) and we get all the things that Ric said... The only problem is that the quality of the serivce is quite poor, but i think we pay around 9000pa... so its not as expensive as what some are paying!
