I was just wondering what other schools are paying yearly for connection to there RBC and what features are made available to them We are with EMBC currently and we are paying 12G a year for a 10mb/s feed into school and with that we are getting a Web mail service and filtered internet connection.... We also get access to a portal, but from looking at it, i dont think anyone ever uses it I would like to get exchange into school, but due to costing and budget, that is out the question at the moment
-
I think EMBC need to take note from the Northern Grid lot... i would say over a course of the year its neen down more then 99.95% I agree with alex in that EMBC are very poor.. but there is things saying that the contract is going to be passed on to someone else There support line is useless, with the first line support talking down to you as if you dont know anything about a network... not good service at all...
-
I personally think its just EMBC's network, our school is located in Coalville and we are connected to EMBC via Fiber link and suppose to be getting 10MB or 8MB cant remember we are no way reaching that at all, i would say the service we are recieving is about 1mb IF THAT!
-
we got our results back aswell, school seemed to perform well, with most of the student hitting there predicted targets.... I still need to analyize the results, just not got round to doing that as yet, cause i lost a technician last week.... We did get a few students with no results, has anyone else had this issue, and does anyone know the reason for this

ive been recently contacted by Misco, and was told that they have set up a new education section and a manager got in touch with me about this.... That was the last i heard from them, ive not ordered from them as yet... but will look to in the future.... I use IT INDEX a fair amount.... never had problems with them and always get the equipment fairly quickly...... but never used them for installs!

We have just had an issue arrise with the admin network, where its not letting users log on, and saying that there is a server authinication error. when you restart the server it wont let you log in as administrator saying that the network service has not started and some users were able to log in at this point, but within 5 mins of the restart, the server restarted itself Ive just rang LEMIS which is the leicestershire tech support for the admin network and they are saying they are having the same issue with a few other schools and some accross nottinghamshire. is anyone else having the same issues
-
thanks, i will check it out now!

-
yea im finding it slow today aswell.... taking forever to read threads and refresh the home page
-
well from the looks of the site, its all static material, they dont have any server side scripting.... you could create one yrself using HTML....
-
we have got 2 of the epson GT 10000+ and i have to agree with richard and john, they are an amazing piece of kit, they are on the pricey side though, but i would say they are worth it..... very quick also!
-
i dont know if this will help, but you could use the log on option within services to change the username and password used to start the service.... I dont think this will affect the QCA Testing software, but it might be worth looking at the postmaster service aswell, as they are both linked.... database and webserver... and that might need changing aswell

i had an issue with an cheap HP printer, i just wanted to install the TWAIN driver for the scanner and then use other software to control the scanner.... But HP didnt just release the TWAIN driver for that scanner, and i had to install about 300MB worth of there products.... if you dont have a problem with this then thats cool.... and HP do, do decent scanners
-
at the moment, my user profiles and user areas sit on the DC.... it would be better not to have them on the same server, but due to costing, i dont have this option.... But i will be looking to move the user areas and profiles as soon as i can

you will be able to back up the whole of the mysql database by using the mysqldump function, and this will create a txt file holding all the SQL required to build the database back from scratch mysqldump -u username -p password databasename > fileName.sql the above is to back up the database, and the below is to recreate the database.... note that the sql needs to sit where the mysql.exe is.... and u run this at the command line. mysqldump -u username -p password databasename < fileName.sql thats for the database as for the webserver..... i have set up PHP and mysql on 2K3 server using both IIS and apache..... which one are you going to be using?

Its a bit of a silly one really, im sure other schools face the same problem. The kids just seem to love trashin mouse mats and picking them to bits.... has anyone got a solution to this or is there anywhere to get them free or very cheap Thanks
