When I was NHS we had some devices with SIM cards in but that was only when WiFi wasn't available and they were truely mobile. When we went agile (i.e. not having a fixed desk) they supplemented £5 a month to cover costs at home i.e. internet/electricity/heating etc. We stopped providing phone lines/internet/printers as times changed unless there was a specific business case.

Customer service is far better with PlusNet, yes they are both BT but PlusNet are in a different league I feel. Used them at my Dad's and when FTTC becomes available I will be looking to ditch Virgin to move to them.

I ended up with a S2 and cannot fault it, perfect for what I need.

Never used it but their kit is in use in BT for broadband networks...

I have an iPad mini that I want to factory restore with a view to selling or or sending off to Mazuma. Am I best just restoring it to factory default or do I need to do anything else? I have read in the past second hand ones having issues as they were still registered to the previous iCloud account, any thoughts on this? Thanks

I was recommended to get one 10 years ago when I was looking for a house as I had no credit rating, this was with Halifax, 10 years later I still have one and never changed it. I started off with I think £1000 and now its £5200 available which I don't go anywhere near. I use it for large purchases or for protection. I've put £50k through mine and incurred repayment cover and interest charges of about £600 in that 10 years which I don't think is bad. I clear more than the minimum off or totally clear it each month but some months I don't have the cash and have to use it to live and clear so much. It's not ideal but living on my own its my backup method for when things go wrong i.e. the car like it did on Friday. Think my interest rate is 1.5% a month or 20% a year. There are probably other deals but I haven't looked. If you don't need one don't get one, I did go through a spell where I went a bit mad on it but now its just a safety net.

Papercut is a good way but first start with the above it's a free option and will start the savings without spending anything.

I had a bunch of sockets installed a few years ago, think there was 3 or 4 sockets taped together running off the 1 cable (obviously different pairs) and that was running with no issues what so ever.

Appears to be ok now via Android/Chrome, I'll check the desktop in the morning.

Just used Chrome on my Android tablet and tried to clear it with no joy and that is the first time I have signed in on that.

I have cleared my cookies. elsiegee40 how did you do it in the app (presume you mean Android one), it doesn't appear in mine.

Is there a way of backing up all my connected WiFi's and restoring them to a new device? I have just got a Android tablet and want to restore them on to there and also I am due a new phone in a few weeks. Thanks

If you need touch screen I would be looking for a touchscreen screen and then mounting a USFF PC on the back of it if nothing else is out there.

I normally go for 3 slices of toast if I do any or have a breakfast. I don't buy bread in at home unless its like a long weekend like this.

I've got something like a Nokia 110 in my bag with a PAYG sim for emergencies when the Samsung doesn't want to play ball or no signal etc. Just a basic phone but last weeks. The new 3310 is out too I believe, not sure on spec of them yet.

Why encrypt it? Surely access control to the folders is enough?

Been looking again tonight as I was in Tesco and having a play, tempted to get the Tab A (comparison here) in the 32GB one, fraction of the cost for similar spec. Thoughts.

Working in IT we go under appreciated at times so if someone is helpful I will always thank said person/via manager as it maybe a small gesture but goes a long way and if its someone you deal with on a frequent basis that relationship only gets stronger and they are more willing to be friendly/helpful down the line.

Not very often you hear praise for a company but I had some arms length dealings with Schools Broadband this morning via a third party and I must say I am impressed at the response and time to sort out a minor issue. What would normally take months else where was done within a few hours. Credit where credit is due.

Just a note re internal calls, is the VOIP in house or external to you? I would be looking at VLANing them off and putting a QOS on if it is hosting externally.
