3CX would be ideal or FreePBX based, depends how little you want to do. All good and well having it hosted but it's not cheap as having it in house, least you can still make internal calls if SIP lines go down. It's not all about the system, don't forget the how the incoming lines come in, are they going to be SIP or you still on a physical connection, time to change, possibly? If you are looking at this, do you have the network infrastructure in place to deal with VoIP phones if that is the route you are going (most sensible).

I've installed a few Canon ipf670 over the years and they are really nice bits of kit. The model is discontinued but I would recommend the Canon products, used the wide format and various inkjet desktops over the years.

I've used both Aruba & Unifi, both great products but massively different cost wise. I've just about finished ripping out Aruba and replacing it for Unifi, benefits for us are Unifi gives better coverage, doesn't rely on the controller as much so we often had drops it would take the network down, cost is peanuts compared to anything else. Downsides to Unifi lacking in SSID, no RADSEC without an additional server, support isn't great when having issues relies on community forums, logging doesn't seem as good but at the end of the day you get what you pay for. Would I put in Unifi again hell yeah, its simple, don't need a third party to do it for me (other than mounting and running cables - that is another story), I have some 4-500 AP's out there, just setup another batch today and will keep adding. Maybe move my controller onto Linux but that is out of my hands. At the costs I can afford to loose a few AP's now and again, I can deploy and swap them with ease, would I use USG's with them that is a no, switches yes on a budget but prefer Aruba but it's down to what you are used to.

Thought it was me, mine does seem slow on the PC, was about to clear cache etc and try but obviously a bigger picture.

We use Desktop Central, manages our mobile devices but also out desktop and server estate too. One place for everything, even image from it too.

We have engineer shelves, collections for different days of week, in repair/3rd party, then cables are all in boxes based on colour and length, box of power, keyboards mice etc. Everything labelled with a reference to the helpdesk.

Stupid question but have you physically swapped a working one for a working on using a known working cable and point? I've seen stranger things but worth a go?

You say no option other than BT, there are plenty of providers who will provide a connection on a BT line, I think its Zen or A&A will deal with line faults to get you over to them. Firstly does the connection drop if on a wired connection, can you run a constant monitor on a machine plugged in? If its dropped so be it sounds like a line fault, has the router been plugged into the test socket and other extension wiring disconnected to see if any improvement. Is there any noise on the line when you pick the phone up, when the internet drops does it coincide with anything i.e. phone call, electric device been used, any particular time of the day. Also is this a home package they are using or a business one, if so what does the SLA say? If a home connection and internet is critical to business maybe they need to look at installing a dedicated line for the business.

I am ready to put these pile of junk USG 3P's in the bin. I have several of these at sites (not my choice) VPN back into network fine and that side works although internet speed is limited with some of the features of them. I have multiple VLAN's on the USG, a voice one and 2 internet only VLAN's. 3 SSID's, corporate (radius), guest (radius) and guest (open to external portal server). The guest to portal server is the one I am having issues with can get it to let me put name and email in but then after that is random what will actually work, it should give 10 minutes of internet before it logs you off unless you authenticate on the email that you get. I have this same setup on none USG sites and its fine so its something USG related. Any suggestions?

I can ping everything, but I cannot access this device by IP. I can connect to other devices on that LAN so the VPN is working correctly just these PC's. First call was firewall on PC but its off.

It's defiantly not DNS!!

Got a bit of an odd one and what I thought would be local windows firewall doesn't appear to be the case so want to see if I am missing anything. I have site A with lets call it PCA and PCB on, there is also a printer on site. I have my data centre with SERVERA and SERVERB on. I have site B with lets call is PCC on. Neither site can talk to each other its basically site to data centre. I want to be able to connect from PCA to PCC so so have added routing and firewall rules in sites talk. All goes via data centre. Note PCA is a workgroup PC, rest are domain joined. So PCA and PCB on site can talk and they can also talk and browse to PCC. PC3 can ping but not browse PCA, but can browse PCB. SERVERA and SERVERB can talk to anything. Firewall on PCA is turned off and have put a rule to allow connectivity but nothing. Connectivity to site is fine and I can also browse printer but just not this PC. Note there are other's say PCD and PCE setup in same way as PCA and get same results with them so sure its down to something on these machines as not installed and managed by us. Normally I would expect to be prompted for username and password. Any thoughts?

Do you have any MX records set locally? Also have you used PRF files to config Outlook in the past? Could be some of that left over.

What I've done in the past is tidy up any current print queues, removed any drivers not needed then done the export, trust me reinstalling loads of printers is soo boring and tedious, likely to make mistakes too. If what you have got works use it.

Just to move the print queues over you can backup and restore config using Print Management it creates a file. When it comes to third party accounting it all depends on what you are using but you will need the queues. Then be a case of updating your GPO's to point to new server, if using accounting each device may require config changes all depends on what is setup and how.

If you are expecting them to work at home kit should be provided, you will find not that many have a home PC now and rely on tablets and mobile phones which for me you cannot work on and do stuff via RDP sessions. RDP servers can be expensive especially if having lots use them, unless you already have that setup, domain joined laptop and a VPN client (AoVPN or Direct Access) is seamless. We run over 1000 connections on our setup weather tethered and out in community or at home on broadband then go into office and plug into a screen. Users have the option to take a screen home during C19 and they will be returned when business as usual.

Domain joined laptop as if it would be in school and setup a AoVPN server then its just an extension to your network and get same experience where ever they are.

The other option is to create a redirected desktop for students, set the permissions on folder where you want icons, that way you can push different icons for apps out to different year groups if you wanted.

Generic accounts a no no for users, if your not in very often why not create an OU in AD, assign a security group that can create users and reset passwords and setup a MMC taskpad using RSAT and give Office Manager or someone/several people access to create and reset passwords for each person. Create a template account that they can copy and don't allow any other changes, problem solved.

Loose track really, done work for a few MP's over the years, all nice friendly people (not into politics anyway), lots of local low level ones I suppose. Not really good with names and loose track and treat everyone the same. My work and voluntary roles have brought me into contact with various people over the years, some more known in some of what I do than they would be to Joe Public, had a few likes, retweets, comments and follows on Twitter if that counts too!

What you did there stopped it from working for me. When I did this last users were restricted unless a GPO was enabled but now it seems opposite. I have quite a few GPO's to go through and see what other policies are applied. I could go down the app locker route but we have lots of local printers that I cannot afford to stop working. I know GPO does it ok just finding the right policy.

I need to disable users from adding local printers i.e. USB/WSD based but not prevent them from connecting to shares i.e. \\pcname\printer. I can disable the add a printer option in Windows 10 but that then stops me browsing to \\pcname\printer and adding that way, any suggestions?
