Hi @geezersoft There are 6 NIC ports in each server with + 1 management port. 4 + 1 as standard in the server and then an extra network card. We will be using HyperV2012 but hosted servers will only be 2008R2 as the LEA do not support 2012 at the moment. Gareth

Evening all, We are now in possession of our two servers ready for virtualising our older pieces of hardware. My funding was cut in half during the project and the funds I had for a SAN are now gone. Gutted - but there is nothing I can do at the moment. I am moving forward with virtualising some of the smaller servers and they will be stored on the servers (which have large hard drives mirrored). I've read somewhere that you should keep your host servers in a seperate VLAN with a different IP range yet can keep your virtualised servers on them with the 'main' ip range. Can anyone advise me why this is so? Currently, all servers are on 10.180.8.xxx/255.255.248.0 - I want to keep this for them when they are virtualised. Can I put my two host servers on something different that doesn't confilict wich anything the LEA has in place (for example 192.168.0.xxx) - why would I do this? Have I read it right? Does anyone know how to run an elevated command file in MDT? This is the issue with the SIMS script above. The script is installing SIMS without any issues but when it comes to copying the files across I am getting 'Access Denied' messages. I've entered the Administrator credentials into the task sequence but it isn't working. Not come across this issue before. Am I running the script too soon (just after the Application install task)? Are my elevated privs wrong? Banging my head now with this. Gareth

Okay - the first part of the script it working well. It installs SIMS. The second part where it decides which OS and which files to copy over are not working. I've elevated the script in MDT to run with Domain Admin privs but I am given access denied messages when trying to write to the machine hard drive. Gareth

Good idea - but the colour green you have used hurts and the test is too bright to read on it. Maybe a darker font or a less bright green? Gareth

This is what the LEA told us too. Apparently the redirected desktop is applied after the gpp allocated icons. I wanted to target the icons to specific departments and get rid of redirected desktops. At the moment we have one redirected desktop which every member of staff gets when they log on. We have icons on there for software which is installed on some machines but not on others. I could create separate re-directed desktops based on locations but surely GPP is the better option and the reason it was put in there by Microsoft. Gareth

To bring an old threat back online - is it possible to use GPP for desktop icons even if there is a shared desktop? At the moment we run shared desktop for staff but no matter how hard I try and get an icon on there via GPP it does not appear. Gareth

I'm seeing a weird issue with this script - I'm getting 'Access Denied' when trying to copy the files across. Is there anything we can do to force the copy of files over to the correct location? Gareth

Morning all, In MDT where do you recommend I put a CommandLine task in my task sequence? At the moment I have a script It runs and installs SIMS but the copy procedures at the end do not work. So part one works, part two does not. So SIMS installs, but the .ini files do not come over. I've enclosed a picture of my task sequence where you can see the 'Run Command Line' which takes place after 'Install Applications'. I have the command line and all the files on the MDT server - maybe they are in the wrong place? Can anyone advise? Gareth

Afternoon The MDT journey is an interesting one with new things being learnt each day. So today I ask about drivers. My room in school is build using MDT and was setup in MDT 6 months ago. There are now newer drivers for the machines so I want to test these and put them into MDT. Is it a simply case of placing them over the top of the current drivers by importing them into MDT (with MDT deleting the older version) or am I asking too much of the software? Gareth

Just popping back in to say that this definately seems to have fixed the issue. Until Microsoft sort it out with Update 2 or a newer MDT then this is an ideal workaround. Phew. Gareth

After a bit of reading on the MS Deployment forums this evening, it seems there is a bug in MDT 2012 and 2012 UPdate 1 in that machines will not join the domain when imaging. There is a workaround which I am going to try out tomorrow. I'll report back but in the meantime here is the link: MDT 2012 - Domain Join for different domain fails and MDT2012 Unattend.xml domain join no longer works and many more people moaning as well. Hope this helps and we'll see if it works in the morning. Gareth
