Chip's frigging Challenge! When my aunt got a PC and I was visiting, I spent a lot of time on that, as well as SkiFree... I really thought that if I kept trying, I could get away from the abominable snowman...

I think one of my earliest gaming memories is watching my Dad play Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Outrun and Ecco the Dolphin on his Game Gear - But if we're talking games that I played myself, there are a couple! We had a Packard Bell Windows 98 computer and I remember playing, among other things, Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator and Total Annihilation on it. I still occasionally play Total Annihilation to this day (thanks GOG). Another very early and fond gaming memory would be playing Pokémon Blue on my Game Boy Colour.

I didn't see him in TV shows (other than his single-show appearance in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia), but he'll always be Commander Zavala, the Titan Vanguard in Destiny and Sylens in the Horizon series of games to me. He had such an iconic and instantly identifiable voice. RIP.

We've been using Edulink One for parents for a few years - It replaced our dated Parent Portal system we had. We've had no complaints from parents so far and it's set up like a one-stop shop for us. We also linked it to Google Classroom so that parents can view homework through Edulink, replacing the (in our experience) unreliable Google Guardian email summary system. My Network Manager says that it was not too difficult to get set up and Overnet were very helpful. The only issue we sometimes run into is an incorrect parental email here or there - However, this is because it's been entered incorrectly in SIMS. Once it's corrected, Edulink pulls it through overnight and it's good to go the next day.

Don't get me wrong, I love a savoury pie as well, but would it be too uncouth to say apple pie or mince pie? If I had to pick a savoury pie, then I'd probably go a little different and say cottage pie - But a pastry-based pie is also good! Butter pies sound amazing!

I bought some of that foil before the 40-degree heat last summer, which I taped up in the south-facing window to try to keep the room cooler. I don't have any evidence, but I'm pretty sure it helped. I've since put some of the remaining foil behind the radiator in the same room for its intended use. I don't think it's helped in the slightest, especially in this cold snap.

Very ready for this. I've loved pretty much all of the recent Star Wars output, but The Mandalorian is the series my girlfriend and I both look forward to - She wants to see the baby!

Hi all, I'm just wondering if, in your experience, you get a better offer dealing directly with Dell / HP / Lenovo etc. for buying desktop PCs or through a reseller(s) when looking for a quote? How do you normally go about it when you're looking for big quotes like this? Thanks in advance!

I love a good racing game - Any Forza Motorsport/Horizon games, Dirt Rally, Test Drive Unlimited back in the day. However, I wouldn't consider myself a sim racer, as I've never owned a racing wheel. I've always used my trusty Xbox controller!

I can recommend the OnePlus Nord 2T - I have the phone myself (albeit the 12GB RAM, 256GB storage version) and it's great. It also only released this year, so in terms of updates, you should be good for a few years.

Being a Warhammer 40k video game, I hope this post still on-topic for this thread, but I'm happy to move the discussion to the Gaming Chat instead! Is anyone playing Warhammer 40k: Darktide that just released lately? My friends and I gave it a crack at the weekend (it's included in the Xbox Game Pass for PC) and it's really fun. As for the tabletop game, I had a Chaos Space Marine starter kit and the Chaos Space Marine codex book (I think it was called?) a when I was at school about 15 years ago, which I very badly put together and painted... I've not really looked at it since, but I remember really enjoying reading the lore in the book.

I'm very surprised to see this thread re-emerge after 6 years! Well, as a little update, here's Dexter, 6 years and 1 month old now: He's half Labrador, and my brother and I (and to some extent, my parents) loved the cartoon "Dexter's Laboratory" when we were kids, so that's where we got Dexter from. He's a very handsome boy, incredibly loving and loves a snuggle. He has a mischevious side though, and likes to steal remote controls, socks etc. This year, however, he's had a couple of seizures. It's probably epilepsy, but we're not sure what the trigger is. Thankfully, it hasn't changed his personality!

I'm seeing a few people on Twitter move to Hive now as well - https://www.hivesocial.app/ I started a Mastodon profile but I've not really looked at it since. The idea of having to find everyone from Twitter again (if they have a profile) is not appealing in the slightest.

I think it'll definitely be worth it a couple of months down the line, when a few of the community-made maps and game modes are hopefully picked up by the devs and added to the regular playlists. They've just added a couple of new maps but there's still not really enough variety.

Woah, that's a meaty upgrade! Hopefully you can work out the teething problems. I've not thought about upgrading my PC for a couple of years, save for replacing the 10+ year old HDD(s) that originally came with the pre-built PC I've now almost entirely replaced. The 2070 Super still seems to be perfectly fine until you try ray-tracing, as does my 10th gen i7. If I replace anything, it'll probably end up being yet another complete rebuild with a new motherboard with a new socket type, and I don't have the money or energy for that at the moment! Back on topic, I've been splitting my time between Modern Warfare 2 when my friends are online / up for it and Halo: Infinite when they're not. I've exclusively been working in the new Forge mode and it's far more complex than any of the Forge modes I've used before (I was most prolific in Halo 3 & Reach - Halo 4's Forge mode was a step back and I didn't play a lot of Halo 5). To find my feet, I've been recreating a map I originally made in Halo 3 and it's been so satisfying to bring it back to life and learning as I go. Hopefully, I can actually make it usable while also being interesting and fun to play...

I'm still enjoying Modern Warfare 2, but the Halo: Infinite Winter Update released yesterday with co-op campaign and Forge. I'm very eager to revisit the multiplayer for the first time in almost a year and mess about in Forge!

Just had the update on our Smoothwall ticket too. This is important too: "On any client machines, please close the browser or else clear the browser cache to ensure no 'broken' YouTube pages are stored." We found that we had to clear the browser cache for the update to take effect.

We've decided to keep the content modification policy enabled until it is hopefully fixed by Smoothwall, if we can get away with it. Enabling ads would be too intrusive on a lesson.

Incidentally, our blockpage server has errored out as well, the Blockpage server indicator is red on the dashboard and we get the screen below when going to a blocked site - I'm not sure if it's related, but has anyone else got the same thing?

Ah, worked this one out - I was testing on a Chromebook, which is set up to filter through the Smoothwall Cloud Filter, not our on-premises box. Testing on a Windows laptop that runs through our on-premises box, the issue is still there.

Weird, it works on wifi here as well! That makes no sense, because we don't have different locations set for the wifi.
