I can't remember where I read it, but if I remember correctly it's an MS security feature. MSOffice won't allow editing of files in C:\Program Files (x86) or any sub-directory. If you want to edit it, copy it to your My Documents, make the changes and save then copy it back to the original location.

FYI: The migration tool will currently only work with SQL2016 SP1 so make sure you don't use anything more recent than that

Have you run validate memberships in SIMS since this started happening? If not I'd start there (Tools | Validate Memberships).

You will only have issues with staff who log in to different domains on different workstations. E.g. if room Maths 1 has a workstation on the old domain and Teacher 1 logs in to the machine as old\teacher1, they then for the next lesson go to room Maths 2 and log in to the new domain as new\teacher1, you will have an issue as you can only specify one domain\username combination per SIMS user.

I had a similar issue, Capita told me the dot net framework on the server needed to be 4.6 and mine was only 4.5, no idea if it fixed it as I need to wait for lunch to re-boot the server

If it's not that, then the other thing to check is the regional setting are in UK format and not US format for the local user on their workstation.

What are you trying to achieve? Capita put those conditions in so that the system knows exactly who is sending a message and from where so the user doesn't have to enter any additional details in an emergency as usually they don't have time to open another program and type things.

For a user to see the Emergency Alert button on their Home page they will need the following in SIMS.net: A timetable Be part of the Class Teacher or Registration Tutor Group Have a group supervisor role. For example: Staff member A. Pinkney has system manager access of Registration Tutor but will not see the emergency icon if he is not assigned to be a registration tutor in Pastoral Structure. By doing this he then has a group supervisor role. If assigning him to be a registration tutor is not appropriate in order to see the Emergency Icon changing his access group permissions to Class Teacher access in System Manager, as he has a timetable, he then has a group supervisor role as the class groups for his timetable.

You will need System Manager, School Administrator, Admin Assistant or Data Protection Officer to set up. This has to be set up via Tools | Setups | Emergency Alert. Tick the checkbox to activate then select the staff you want to be notified when an alert is raised.

Ask your current school's SIMS support, we put on training and all our schools can send up to 2 delegates to any of our courses as part of the SLA, yours may do something similar.

If you are a secondary school then I would highly recommend that you should be running the orphaned document housekeeping routine (SIMS.net | Tools | Housekeeping | Document Management Server | Maintain Orphaned Documents) on at least a termly basis, and if you use Profiles or Individual Assessment reports then I'd make that half termly. If you haven't run this routine in more than a year then you'll want to leave it running on the computer where the DMS is installed overnight, make your choices the next day and click save the next evening and leave it running again overnight (make sure you have a high commandtimout value in the connect.ini of that machine before you start). As for management of linked documents (i.e. those that aren't orphaned) then as you use the bulk student data deletion routine and delete areas/student, their documents will become orphaned and will then be picked up by the regular DMS housekeeping above. There are 3rd party programs you can purchase to give you more granular control over your linked documents but most schools I've spoken to aren't willing to spend money on managing this and seem to be more inclined to just keep everything and buy more storage.

The notification I was emailed says "The impact on the Teacher App is that from its retirement date (18th March) anyone using ACS will have service requests failing.", my reading of this was the SSM package needs applying ASAP but will server both ACS and the new method, so once SSM has updated you until the 18th March to update all your teacher's devices. Do you have a different understanding of Capita's communications?

it won't affect statutory AM/PM atendance, but it will be counted in Lesson based attendance reports unless you filter them down to specific subjects or periods.

Run the report for individuals in that class until you find the offending record.

Have you got the correct external ID for the report filter when passing the value in? (If not then run the report from the command line with the /PARAMDEF switch to get the correct ID)

You'll need to get and set up Multi Centre A2C, then you can swap center numbers in EO to do the 2 sets of entries.

Yes, only Primary Email addresses filter through. There is a patch and report you can run to output all the email addresses in SIMS to Excel for each person, you then set which ones you want as the Primary (easy if they only have one as you can just select the whole column and fill down). Then put the file on the server and run the patch. As you are hosted you can do the report part of it and your SIMS support will need to do the patch side. By default email addresses get syncronised hourly, but again check with your SIMS support if they have changed that.

What problems is it causing in cover as I've seen schools do it both ways without any reported problems?
