Anyone else having trouble with this? I've just spent half an hour trying to get a teacher connected to a live training event on this. Spoke to their tech support, and the vague help I got was that they could not connect through a proxy, and needed admin rights. Tried again, and found that, yes, it would only work if I gave the user admin rights and bypassed the Smoothwall proxy. I had to do *both* of these. Anyone found an easy way to get this working? Or know what the problem is? More teachers will be using this soon, so I need to get this sorted soonish. Thanks.

Hi guys, I have a really really annoying problem! I need to install esm administrator on 70 machines in one of our IT suites. Edexcel have released an msi (which can be retrieved by decompressing the .exe file) however, I can't figure out an effective way to point the installer to the shared folder that is required by the program. There is a command that can be used if you were installing the software manually (e.g msiexec.exe /qb /I "C:\New MSI's\Administrator.msi" DATAPATH=H:\test_center) However I can't figure out how to automate this to be deployed via group policy, say in the form of a transform file. I have tried to build an msi from the exe, but this throws up an error that promissor is unable to determine version number. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

I am having problems that have occoured after the Prommisor Administrator and ESM server latest upgrade. I have always found this software problematic. I upgraded last week only to find that when the students turned up for the test no flash images were displayed, I rang Edexcel they kept me waiting on the phone forever not seeing the urgency, as i had 18 students down in the exam hall and a less than pleased exams officer. Edexcel onscreen talked me through everything, the usual permissions etc, the only change i made is removing flash 10 and using flash 9 edexcel asked me to do this as they are experiencing issues with flash 10. Edexcel could not resolve the issue. Flash 9 allowed administrator's to see the flash objects where flash 10 would not, but when i log in as a student the flash objects will not display. I have checked that flash works by visiting flash websites and using flash objects they work ok as a student but when is comes to this stofware no flash objects display as a student. Is anyone in the same boat ? Does anyone have any ideas / resolutions ? I am currently unable to let the students take there tests due to this. Thank you for your help and support in advance

Hi everyone, First-time poster here. We are running into a bit of trouble with one of the courses that one of our IT teachers is running. They are running an a-level course this year and to complete it the students will need to run a social media campaign. The deadline is looming and the IT teacher is starting to panic, SLT are remaining quiet, and we (techs) are being pressured into making things happen. Now, social media sites are all filtered, so we are tying to figure out how to allow access to them, but restrict it to lesson time only. We obviously don't want to blanket-allow all students access as that would be chaos. We have toyed with two ideas: Individually allowing each of the student's normal profile to bypass the RM SafetyNet filter using the staff proxy. But this would mean enabling and then disabling this for each student, every week at the start and end of the lesson. Creating new, blank profiles that we can assign to students and have them constantly unfiltered, but blocking the accounts (in AD, en masse) whenever the lesson is not running, to stop the students from logging on outside of lesson. It is an Edexcel course and this is the criteria the students need to meet: 3/BC.D3 Demonstrate individual responsibility, creativity, and effective self-management in the planning and use of social media in a business context. 3/C.M3 Optimise the content, format and features of social media which meet the requirements of the plan. 3/C.P5 Produce business-related content using appropriate features of social media which meet the requirements of the plan. 3/C.P6 Review data obtained on social media usage and interaction. Has anyone out there had any experience with doing this kind of thing, maybe even with this course? Oh, and to make things worse, our enterprise provider is changing our ISP this Thursday 2nd Feb (Monday 30th Jan today), which will bring with it a new piece of filtering software (that we haven't had hands-on with yet) called NetSweeper. If anyone could give us a heads up with this new filter and if we can do what we want more simply, that would be fab. Thanks everyone, a bit of a stinker, I know! James

Hi Guys I have installed this software previously without too many issues in the past, but this year no matter where I install it (window xp, 7, etc) it keeps forcing a restart every half an hour or so. The event logs say the MsiInstaller initiated the restart to complete the installation of 'ESM'. I have made sure all permissions are correct in the registry, the install folder and the network share. Both components have been installed from downloads and not the auto, but this seems to make no difference. Currently we have the ESM Server and Administrator installed on one PC with the required share on the network server. Has anyone else come across this issue? Their tech support didn't have any clues.. Cheers.

Hi there, We are struggling with importing results for 3 students who have achieved an "N Grade" for "Near Pass" for Edexcel BTEC. Exams organiser doesn't seem to like it. We are all up to date with patches apart from Patch 24760. Has anyone managed to import any Students with "Near Pass" grades this morning? If so - is there anything you needed to change to achieve this? Kind Regards, Cw222
