Hello all I am thinking of getting a Promethean PRM 45 as a replacement for our sanyo XE-40 projectors at work. Does anyone have any hands on experience with the PRM 45s. Am especially interested in knowing if they suffer from any know problems or faults and how bright they are in the average classroom, are they easy to read from around 10 feet away. Any help is hugely apreciated

none are exempt from photos. The photos were taken by an event organiser, using their own phone. the event had several schools there and the link has been sent to those other schools, and that makes me twitchy as i have no idea who the team at those other schools are or what policies they have. It may seem like im being a bit paranoid but i feel that when it comes to the safety of the pupils under our care there is no such thing as overboard

ive had a read of both of those today ( very dry reading ) some interesting stuff but i feel they look at the purely legal aspects and not the practical aspects of how cloud services are used for things such as sharing of photos or documents.

We recently had some photos of pupils from our school sent to us through google photos, now my twitch started when i could download all of the photos (including ones of pupils from others schools) and share the album with anyone My concern is that schools are woefully under equipped when it comes to the legal side of how technology is changing how files are accessed and shared and so are the parents of pupils. We are looking at moving over to having documents stored in the cloud and i know Microsoft take security seriously but no system is perfect and i feel that any file with any sensitive data should go near an online system. Has anyone else had these thoughts and what arose from them, have you mentioned it to management or simply felt it wasn't your place?

Encrypting USB drives is part of our it policy at the moment, doesn't happen though as it would be near impossible to ensure that everyone is using encryption Sent from my Nexus 5 using EduGeek mobile app -
Hi guys Ive taken over the role of organizing and developing the school website. Im wanting to get us away from our current hosting company as they are trying to rip us off, the problem with this is that i will need to provide an alternative to them and for less money. I am thinking wordpress.com but i have one issue that needs to be overcome before it is really viable, that is password protected pages. Currently the password when entered is stored in the cookies for 10 days, i need it to clear after a moment or two but that seems to be an option reserved for wordpress.org. Is there a way around this or a plugin that will give me the functionality i need.

we have otter boxes for them but they didn't help when the ipad screen caught the edge of something, £90 to get the screen repaired!! i love the idea of that reverse thermometer.
-
We are getting this a lot at the moment, kids keep breaking things and teachers think that tech grows on trees that and then staff thinking that buying ipads costs peanuts and getting shirty when we say no because they cost £400
-
i find it really rewarding but there are times when i get stressed due to red tape and teacher attitudes when my primary focus is providing support to the pupils

Im curious to know how many other techs here work in the SEN field and if so what do you like/dislike about the SEN area and education?

Sorry if not the correct forum location Im looking for a rugged system that can play CD's that isn't bank breaking expensive. I work at a Special needs school so equipment can get thrown around a lot and unfortunately finding equipment that is built to survive a throw against the wall is tricky. I had considered the SHARKK ²O wireless speaker but it lacks a screen to see what song is playing, if there is something like this with a screen that would be great but failing that a compact and rugged cd player/speaker combo.

Im sick of having to use adapters for different format outputs from different devices, this got me wondering. Is there a video box, where it has various inputs such as HDMI, VGA, Display port etc and then also has similar outputs and you simply choose the path for the signal to take. so if you needed to go from mini hdmi to VGA you simply press mini hdmi for the input and then VGA for the out put. Does such a device exist, if so where and if not why not?

Hi all Not sure if this is the right space for this question, move it if needs be. I am looking at putting in an order for some new bulbs for promethean prm 30 projectors, i have several quites but am unsure of how good the suppliers are. Do any of you have experience with the following companies? JP-UK Lamp-bulbs uk just projector lamps if so could you say why they are good/bad.

I am having an issue with a projector whereby it will turn on for around 3 seconds then it shuts off, it doesnt do the cooling cycle, it just turns off and the warning light comes on. My initial thought was thermal reset but this hasn't been tripped. my only other ideas are A problem with the PSU A problem with the lamp drive unit A problem with the circuit traces or connections i have tried 3 brand new bulbs also so this isn't the issue. Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Sanyo PLC XE-40 Projector Problems!!!!!!
chewee replied to chewee's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
i would just like to say thank you to everyone for you help too. one thing that hasn't been answered though is if there is any way to do a quallitative comparison regarding image quality, i dont know much about the testing aspect regarding projectors and lighting and i cannot think of any way of asigning a meaningful numerical value to it but i wondered if anyone her could think of some sort of system. The best idea i have had is to use the BBC test card and see how many sections the colouration is in but that doesnt say how intense the colouration is, just how widespread -

i may have to look into loaning one for comparrison, if you could find it that would be brilliant as it would be great proof, especially since the kids have special needs and often find things difficult to read at the best of times -
Sanyo PLC XE-40 Projector Problems!!!!!!
chewee replied to chewee's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
unfortunately the way the finances work we would have to provide some quantifiable proof that the projectors are degrading and the cleaning will only do so much, once that has been reviewed then they would look at buying a replacement. its a pain but its the way the system works to prevent spending money when we dont need to, everything needs to be justified
