  1. Agree with this. Fine for 1:1 or staff who use a single device. But for shared class sets it doesn't work. Until Google either allow app caching, or better yet assign apps by device, Android Apps in a shared environment just isn't there yet.
  2. Yes and be aware that software such as extensions and Android apps are user based policies and not device policies.
  3. Bare in mind both of those models are dual core. For longevity want to be looking at quad core models with N4100 or equivalent. Oh and welcome to the dark side @localzuk
  4. Highly recommend the team over at https://dataprotection.education/ Work with the school and answer questions rather than just quote things like Article xxx says or some other vague response. Feel free to DM is you have any other questions.
  5. Again welcome to the UK Marc. What is the best contact address to obtain a quote, currently using the free offering but after contacting a couple of your resellers for quotes and getting no response I'm at a bit of a loose end. Thanks
  6. Make sure you add Lenovo 300e & 500e to your demo list.
  7. GPO BLOCK TERMINAL 37B
  8. With regards to encryption I am talking about password protecting the outputted PDF at the device. The MFD interface allows this, Papercut does not. Also for example via the MFD interface a user can change the output tray for a job at the copier. This helps when printing on labels or other heavy media from a Chromebook. This cannot be done via the Papercut interface, only change number of copies, duplex, colour settings.
  9. One for the Papercut users. Have recently taken delivery of some new Kyocera MFDs. The solution comes with Papercut and has all been setup and works well but have some questions regarding advanced workflows. So with Papercut a user can retrieve their jobs, but the Papercut options are basic compared to using a device Job Box, not enough options for changing the job options at the printer, changing trays for example. Also the scanning is ok for basic use, but again nothing compared the device functions, no option for encrypted scan via Papercut is a glaring omission. So what do others do?

  11. gam all users print forwardingaddresses > c:\filename.txt
  12. Standard account and then delegated access.
  13. When I was in a similar situation I purchased a cheap throw away domain added it to O365. Added the schools main domain to G Suite, setup accounts & DNS so all incoming & outgoing mail went via G Suite. Then renamed the O365 accounts with the new throw away domain via Powershell. Meant staff had a fresh start with clean inboxes. All old email was available via O365 and dealt with power users who would need to migrate mail over on an individual basis.
  14. Are you making use of Android Apps on your Chromebooks?
  15. Sounds like someone read the news story about a child renaming their school on google. Enable Google My Business as above. Then go through the process of claiming it using a schools g suite account. You get the option for a call with a PIN for authorisation. However google chooses the number, and it isn't always the schools main number! Google wanted to use the nursery school nearby for one and another was the LA children's services! Luckily the option to to have the PIN mailed did go to the school(s) addresses
  16. Wouldn't want to be fixing pricing for 7 years. Our quoted prices from Ricoh were 1/3 less than 4 years ago, wouldn't want to be paying the current price for another 3 years!

  18. *bump* Need these gone before half term so if anyone want to make an offer drop a PM otherwise off to the recyclers.
  19. Welcome to the greener side You do have to change your mindset when going Google. Our Trust is slowly moving over to G Suite, currently all pupil devices are Chromebooks and next phase is staff. Have looked in to backup, but as you have found it's £££££. Have to agree with the others above that Googles Bin & Vault have been enough for us over the past two years. Trust me file deletion won't be your biggest problem it will be users losing / missing files when someone changes the sharing permissions or moves a file from a shared resource! The 25 day limit is for files that have been deleted from the users bin (Team Drive Bins clear after 30 days) So just train your staff never to empty their bin and those files will still be there for them to restore. That's the thing with G Suite, the onus is put on the user.
  20. Can set via GPO - https://support.google.com/chrome/a/answer/187202?hl=en Value you're looking for is PromptForDownloadLocation
  21. *bump* Will take £350.00

  23. No, bonus of being a Primary I guess. Also never say never.
  24. Class sets of Chromebooks have made the Suite redundant, well to be fair G Suite for Education / Chrome OS has pretty much made our Windows network redundant. Only have back office PCs and staff laptops running Windows now.
