Currently when someone prints from a Windows device they need to enter a pin number to print onto the schools Sharp printers. The pin numbers are all stored on the printers themselves, there is no software on the server controlling the pin numbers. The primary school recent purchased some Chromebooks and I am trying to workout a way to print from them. I have noticed Mobility Print which is free, does anyone know if this would work with the pin numbers? Any other ideas????

We have had this issue for a few weeks at a primary school, but it's not so important for us as we are 99% Google so haven't gone hunting for a fix.

I just read that this is built (or should be) into Chrome OS already

Hi, I just got a cheap Dell PowerEdge T420 server that comes with some SAS drives. The SAS drives themselves are 2.5 inch size but the caddy they are in is 3.5 with an adapter for the smaller drives. I have a couple of 8TB drives in my NAS. If I took the adapter out from the caddy, do you think I would be good to use the 8TB SATA drives in the server or are the back plate connectors different. Hope that makes sense.

I use a WiFi app on my phone and walk around testing the signal strength

I really like Pulseway, although I only use a fraction of what it can do. I get alerts if server goes offline, emails after each backup, run a few scripts, install OS updates on the servers but it does loads more. https://www.pulseway.com/

Google Classroom thinks the teacher is a pupil issue.

Perhaps I am loosing my mind and thought this was an option already, but we just tested a Google Meet with two other users and they were both automatically able to join the Meeting, the host didn't get the option to allow them into the meeting. Is this now normal with all the Google changes going on?

We have been offered a batch of 2017 5th gen iPads for slightly less than we could get from ebay. I am not really an iPad user and cost is not my main concern, I am wondering (from a software perspective) how much longer these should keep running before we would need to replace them.

OK but aren't a lot of these issues actually overcome because a user is using a cloud based system, for example I have cloud based drives for the TA's that are read-only and actually block downloading of the files, printing is also blocked, those files will always be under our control and will never end up in dropbox by mistake.

So are you saying pupils that are also logging into Google Classroom or Office 365 should not be working from home. Is this not a user policy issue? Anyone can do anything to any file even on school devices, as a school you must make sure people are aware of what they should not be doing, not making it impossible for anyone to work.

There is also a filtering firewall whitelist that will block or allow autocomplete from working on some Google Apps but not others. I have no idea which one it was as we needed to whitelist a long list of addresses and one of those made auto complete work for all services. Google have a list of addresses to whitelist somewhere.

I am sure I would get a never ending stream of' I followed your instructions and now my home computers doesn't work, fix it now' calls doing this. This is something I was thinking of suggesting :0) Thanks, I will take a look Not sure where you got this from, in my second post I pointed out I wanted the governor to have all the facts before they made their decision.

I already have a list of users and the OS the access from, but have never installed endpoint software. This is the correct question, although I don't think it will ever get asked. All staff already have MFA for cloud access, and I'm not setting up a new server just so a TA can access her email over RDS :0).
