Just taken over a new school and wanted to update the firmware on the Unifi AP Pro's, but when I try to ssh to them I get invalid credentials error. I have contacted the old IT admin but he says I have the only username / password he knows. I know I could drive over and do a manual reset but is there anyway to do this remotely, to save me arranging someone having to open the school and me a long drive.

This is exactly what I have been wanting to do but wasn't sure where to start :-)

cant you just set the calendar as a default page in chrome and then get chrome to auto run after a re-boot edit- oh its not windows device

Is mesh mode where just one AP is plugged into the router and the other Ap's pass through the signal? If so, with unifi Ap Pro what setting puts them into mesh mode?

So the chomebooks still don't seem to work :-(When I tested the two that worked I was in an area with the older original AP devices, the classroom with the issue has a newer AP Pro device. I have asked the teacher to see if the class can take the Chromebooks to an area with older APs and report back , but we are almost at the end of term so nout sure if this will hapen any thime soon. Obviously if the issue is the newer AP Pro I could just chuck in an older AP, but if this does turn out to be the case do you think either of these that @Michael shared would fix the issue on the newer AP Pro? If the server has the correct raid hardware and the disks are setup with raid then yes you can swap the faulty disk over for a working disk, the raid system will then import that drive and copy over all the correct data. Again, If the server has the correct raid hardware and the disks are setup with raid you can swap the disks over while the server is still powered on. I have done this many times :0)

GSuite - 3rd party apps - API controls - Apps access control
TwistedHelixis replied to Koldov's topic in Cloud Services
i just installed Clicker Writer onto our Chromebooks and as far as I can tell it was completely blocked from doing anything until I gave it access in the app API security page. I dont think they could even sign-in, at least that was the messaage from the teacher. -
GSuite - 3rd party apps - API controls - Apps access control

Doesn't the fact all the apps (Gmail, Drive etc) are now set to restricted mean any new 3rd party apps are blocked from the data automatically. EDITED to make sense -
I'll log in tonight and do an update I recently expanded our range from 250 to 1000+ IP's. so we have 4 ranges listed in DHCP and 255.255.252.* subnet- 10.***.136.*** 10.***.137.*** 10.***.138.*** 10.***.139.*** I can see 4 devices listed in our 137 range and the rest in our 136 range, so that does seem to be working. Out of interest are the Unifi AP's OK with clients from different address ranges at the same time? In Google devices for some reason it seems to list 2 device types, although they are actually the same. Chromebook 14 G6 HP Chromebook 14 db0000-db0999 / HP Chromebook 14A G5

Ill need to logon and check the versions. I last updated the firmware about 6 months ago and they have been rock solid for everything else, including my Chromebook and the Chromebooks at the other end of the school. We do have a mix of AP & AP Pro, but it's the AP Pro that is nearest the Chromebooks.

We recieved some HP Chromebooks from the governmant recently but they are all either dropping the Wifi or simply not connecting in the first place. Had an email today to say that only 6 out of the 30 were connected. These are all allocated to the years 5 class (primary school). I cant easilly test them in another location due to covid. We have a Unifi wifi. At the other end of the school we have different Chromebooks that are fine. I had lots of problems getting these enrolled in Google Workplace, sometimes they just wouldn't connect to our WiFI, some would say something about DHCP issue and others something about the WiFi password being incorrect even though I typed it correctly. When they do connect they dont all stay connected. I also notice that my enrollement account is listed as a login account on the login page, with our paid for Chromebooks after enrollement the account used to enroll was never listed on the login page so that seems odd. I also notice that these HP Chromebook 14 do have a lot of internet issues listed on forums. Although I am 99% sure its an issue with the Chromebooks, what is the best way to fault find the issue? The class laptops all work OK. Would a powerwash help? Anyone else get HP 14 Chromebooks?

GSuite - 3rd party apps - API controls - Apps access control
TwistedHelixis replied to Koldov's topic in Cloud Services
I am no expert but believe if you open the page that lists each of the Google API services (Gmail, Calander etc) you can and should edit each one so it's listed as restricted. For the first two, Drive & Gmail you want restricted but with Auth0 also selected. This lets some 3rd party apps use the account but blocks those 3rd party apps from accessing data, unless you allow it. This is what I have been told recenlty. -
Another vote for VeryPC. Very friendly group of people :-)

Chromebook Apps - deploy to device or user
TwistedHelixis replied to TwistedHelixis's topic in Cloud Services
But if i dont know the serial and need to find it, and I know its a teachers device for example, I just look in the teachers device OU I also seem to remember (ill need to check) that we had a couple of device spacific settings and I like to keep things like that seperated. -
Chromebook Apps - deploy to device or user
TwistedHelixis replied to TwistedHelixis's topic in Cloud Services
Makes it easier to track down a serial number I belive there were a few device only settings not available for user but could be wrong. -
That does work for some, or keep checking for new updates that fix the issue.
-
Is this a new issue? Just had email from teacher Windows cannot print due to a problem with the current printer setup Other staff can print, or the ones that didn't get one of the other issues.

Somen Reddit posts saying how much better it runs now, have you tried it recently?

Yes Solus. Oh I think that is what I needed to do last time, thanks for reminding me :0)
