Is it even worth taking a pre-printed badge then?

If it's for recording then I would want a standalone machine off network as much as possible. Maybe connect via wifi for AV updates once a week (done by the music tech) but otherwise keep it completely isolated, and give a standard build machine for admin etc.

My old school had a tool that detected if users were logged on elsewhere, and if they were it showed them which machines were logged in and gave them the option to logoff. It was able to restrict the number of active logons by AD user group (pupils had 1, staff had 3 and I think we had 5) and there was a keyboard shortcut to bypass it if really needed... BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS CALLED!!! So there is a tool out there - but I can't tell you what it is!!!

HDMI has 5v available through the HDMI port.

Is your 10m cable an active cable? Passive cables have a length limit of 5m, though there are companies who will happily make longer cables even though they'll have problems. We use Van Damme active cables up to 15m long and have no issues. Available from CPC here.

Have a look at JBL Control 5's. 15" high, 175w at 4 ohm. We use the Control 1's with the Denon PMA255 quite happily, the 5's should be quite happy with that amp. (When you said 18" high my first thought was EV ZX1's - 18" high perfectly but 200w at 8 ohm so a little more powerful and overkill for your system!) - - - Updated - - - Oops. Just seen your budget. Back to the drawing board.... (Gives you an idea though!)

Hi, Trying to spec on what you've given us isn't going to get the best product for you - also need to know room size, current amp power output, room capacity etc?

One question to ask - do you need the battery functionality? If not you're adding a lot of unnecessary weight to the speaker. As for the qtx model - much of a muchness at this price range. I do love the promotional video though, UHF microphones for reduced interference - even though it's in Channel 70 which is probably the most crowded piece of bandwidth for radio mic users!

Looks fine for a primary - word of warning, Roche's website is not the most reliable source of information, best to call them up and have a chat first. They often have items listed that are out of stock / end of line and it hasn't been updated. (I've been bitten a few times by them....) I'm guessing this is the 12" one, rather than the 15" as there's a near identical page for a near identical speaker for £75 more (webpage states no FM tuner or bluetooth on the cheaper one, but look at the spec sheet on the Download tab... identical. See what I mean about the website?) however this is probably better for you - 12" carries spoken word a lot easier than 15", lighter in weight and actually just as loud. Only downside is not quite as much low end, but unless you want chest thumping lows that shouldn't be an issue.

How full is the hall when it's in "assembly" mode? Which wall are you presenting on?

Used to do this daily as well. Setting up a projector daily really is the best option - even if it was in a cage it's going to be a target for balls and will only last so long. Audio wise if you have curtains that partition the hall / cricket nets / anything made of fabric get them out. But I would try NOT using a PA if you can - teachers should be able to project well enough in a sports hall and as already mentioned keeping the volume as low as possible is important.

Lastolite is a good bet. I've not used the chromakey one linked above but had one of their pop up studio boxes for ages, quality was top notch. Would easily buy their kit again in a heartbeat.

Matrox Triplehead2go - take the triple monitor idea external to the Mac, might be easier?

I'm running a pair of Dell P2418HZs and happy enough - others may find different though!

I'd have a look at EV Evid - installed them in the beer garden of a club a few years back and still going strong.

Thanks for the public bashing, but surely you'd want to at least consider the points I raised before rolling out the first piece of software that Google finds? Oh and please let me know the first time a student hops onto Airserver and starts playing porn to a classroom. If you're not concerned about security it's only a matter of days before it happens....

There are loads of wireless casting solutions out there at the moment - you need to ask a few questions and identify how it's going to be used. We've been doing this exercise for about 3 years now and still don't really have an answer! Questions you need to ask... Do you want it to cast natively in your OS or are you happy with an app? Do you want collaboration features, or just a way of transmitting AV over wirelessly? How secure do you want the system to be? Do you want to encourage BYOD functionality so students can cast to the screens - if so how much teacher control do you need for moderation? A few products to get you started WePresent - by Barco. Hardware solution, more for BYOD collaboration and easy connection. Kramer VIA - Hardware solution, lots of collaboration and file sharing options, better security. Vivi - simpler interface than others IMO Sony vision exchange - software based solution... We're still undecided - but have Kramer VIA installed in one of our rooms. Can't say more than that I'm afraid!

Samsung consumer TV used in a digital signage application - on 24/7. Photo taken 2 mins ago, installed less than a year ago. (Bodge job using available kit and no budget, won't be doing it again!)

On a different note - I hope by TV's you mean digital signage screens? TV's are not designed to be used in the way digital signage is, and will fail or suffer from burn in a lot quicker than a professional display... Unfortunately the answer to your question comes down to budget.... How much do you have in the coffers?
