The teacher should be waiting for everyone to leave though, same as in real life when a lesson ends and then they lock the classroom door aka end the meeting

Are the chromebooks being provided by the LA just going to be vanilla chromebooks then and not enrolled or licensed into G-suite?
-
Well you won't folder level permissions, I dumped 200GB out of our staff drive last summer and no-one noticed..
-
G suite edu is free to education, just sign up and you get meet included free
-
Fair enough, hadn't seen or used it in years.

Just out of interest, what are you using Quicktime for? Surely VLC all day long?
-
We're using the two in one chromebooks
-
We use bodet, I think the software a little but clunky but it's easier enough to use and set and it works

The first time we done it, we did a few taster sessions on google drive etc, then got staff to put new resources on google, then gave them a date for turning off but it wasn't four weeks in the middle of a lockdown -
We've got the school intranet page as a google site with different links etc for staff and students, dead easy to do, works at home too, it's pretty useful

We have suggest meet for everything as we're a google school, we don't endorse not support Zoom, 99% of took this onboard obviously a few haven't In google we can control who can record, who can do different bits, we have logs of it, any staff using Zoom and circumventing their own IT policy deserve a massive bollocking(they won't get it) We have provided as IT professionals a set of tools to do exactly what they need, it's a shame some staff or SLT feel they are better than our judgement or well laws and guideliness too, if an incident happens on Zoom no-one has any logs of it or even proof of anything

I think the recent few weeks blows the need for training out the water though, the amount of schools and people that are now using zoom and Google/Microsoft that didn't months ago with no training but are getting on with it, most modern stuff these days is so user intuitive, the help pages or superb or there is a youtube video on it. The need to train people to use Google Drive etc drives me insane, it's so simple it's ridiculous, if you do get stuck fair enough but just use it. Also welcome to our world where we just given stuff to setup or use with no training. -
Should deploy easily, from memory place the msi and the lic key in a share holder on the network and gpo deploy it, I'll double check tomorrow We have sketchup local and google, 2ddesign and solidworks which I'm convinced no one really knows how to use and we don't really need

The website companies and others that promise an app and then it's just the website in an app, jesus! I remember I wasn't involved back then but the SLT etc so excited about having an app, sort of burst the bubble when I just went it's the same as the website and loading the website is probably quicker.

I've said on a few occasions, it will no doubt be ignored but we need a day or two just to re-adjust ourselves, check everything, almost go back to our surroundings and all the things we couldn't do on-site. Otherwise we're going to go back and be pestered non-stop, tons of tickets all within a few hours or day of being back, we just need a day to reintegrate with our surroundings, IT colleagues etc I think this has taught me not to take work as seriously, it's almost not being on site as you can't be chased, can't be pestered, no one keep tracking of if you pinch five minutes here or there extra for lunch of arriving/leave early/late -
We normally go for Lenovno think/idea pad whatever one is the business model out of them

I won't be able to do better than the post above, we use it not as a widescale currently as we are going to in the future, we find it a very good product with good support. -

Logging is a great idea, I've been doing it since day one, Google doc updated every time I did something half-meaningful, not massively in depth but just notes -
We've had this once or twice, not from our managers but admin type staff with no real gravitas, both teams responded with we are following the strict government guidelines, we won't be putting ourself, our family, the general public at risk, if you have an issue please contact x

The problem is, you'll get someone annoying who will be like why can't work in this office, y in that office and so forth for no real need. -
Yeah we've done this, made them sign a form etc

Even when getting a bit angered at times, I'm finding it some much more soothing to be in my own house, away from the environment, I can do things at my own pace, can have a podcast/music on in the background, I think it's been a revelation mental health wise in the professional sense, almost makes me realise how much unnecessary strength we go through in most cases for not much thanks or renumeration
