Google Meet doesn't offer a remote control facility so not really, no. You're better off using Chrome Remote Desktop, Quick Assist (built into Windows 10) or using Teamviewer

With EduLink, set up your SMTP Communicator like BKGarry said and send out links for the parents via email. Obviously inform them of the intention to move beforehand otherwise they might think it's a phishing scam. In the user management of EduLink, you can modify the email it sends out and the expiration of the link, for our initial batches we had the expiration set to something like a month as we knew parents wouldn't get around to it, we put information about where to find more info (our website) and the school ID in the body of the email as well. For parents without an email on SIMS, you can do the following: 1) Login to the EduLink One Admin > Login 2) Scroll down to the bottom, expand your user accounts section 3) Type "parent" into the user type filter 4) Change the [Please Select] drop down to Export Filtered and export to a CSV 5) Manipulate the data to get the details of the parents without emails. Any parent without an email address had their username sent in one letter and the password sent in another.

Hello all, Been asked to price up a new ICT suite, chairs and stuff are usually a site team job but I'm just wondering what chairs other people use in their ICT suites? All our other ICT suites use office chairs like this on glides but I've found that with almost all of them, the gas rams have broken so they're always at the lowest point and the fabric gets picked at overtime. Honestly I think going with PoE speakers is the better option, if you went with some sort of amplifier then you've got a single point of failure for a zone, and you'd need to make sure cabling for all those speakers went back to the amplifier and it just seems like a bit more of a pain in my head! Your site might be better suited for it though, but in mine it'd be impossible to do anything like that and easier to have many network points above the ceiling going to different cabs. We've got a Bodet system at our school and I'm very happy I put it in, we've still got traditional bells in the oldest (main) building but slowly phasing those out. Bodet master clock to synchronise all the timings, can control different zones (turn off certain zones in exam time), use various sounds, use it for lockdown, tannoy etc. Would recommend, but Bodet is pricey so if you're going with bellcommander then stick with PoE speakers and you'll probably save a bunch

Screenshot of the error, usually they have an error code which helps to diagnose - Ask them to type their password in notepad so they can see what they're typing, ask them to verify it's correct - Clear credential manager of web/windows credentials for anything relating to Teams - Use TeamViewer to remote on and watch the error in real time, take remote control and try test user to verify all the details are being typed correctly Could be something stupid like numlock being on, two keys being pressed at once etc. if the web auth is just spitting back that the username/password is incorrect

I believe they're called wafer head (machine) screws, use a pair of calipers (or sometimes it's marked on the chassis) to find out the thread diameter (probably M2/M3) and the depth, size of head. Might be difficult to source but you can try this website I just found (https://www.laptopscrewsdirect.com/), I usually harvest them from dead laptops and keep them in a box by size Sizes will be thread size, length and then the head size will be seperate, e.g. M2x3, 5mm head size might then be referenced somewhere else.

This is the correct answer, it will also not care about putting anything like "+word" after an email address, very useful for signing up to websites (e.g. sign up to EduGeek with [email protected]) and if you start getting random emails to that address from other websites, you know edugeek has shared your data.

Personally 600mm if I can, even better if it's a swing out one for easy access to the rear if necessary (like this, ones like this are also fine) The deep racks give you plenty of room for cabling, large PoE switches etc. The worst thing is when you go to a site and they've had to put a switch in diagonally or all the cabling is crushed against the glass front because the cab they put in is too small... Just put a deep rack in the first time and never need to replace it!

I'd separate your homelab network from your main network in Hyper-V using a virtual switch set as Internal/Private Network, you could then create a firewall VM (pfSense for free) and have that bridge between your private homelab network and your LAN for internet access. When you then create a new VM in your homelab network, you assign it the network adapter on your "homelab" network and it will do a DHCP request and broadcast only on that network and get a response from your DC.

Not to mention that just because you're in work, especially alone, doesn't necessarily mean you'd be "doing your job", could be sat in the office watching Netflix for all they'd know. If you have metrics to meet and they're being met, it doesn't matter if you're at home or at work. Just poor management if they've got to make sure "you're doing your job".

If you're using RD Gateway, it shouldn't be blocked by an ISP as it goes over port 443. If you've just exposed RDP to the web over 3389, which might get blocked by ISP routers, you need to stop that as it's an absolutely massive security risk.

Do you already use active directory? Are all the students from SIMS already in Active Directory? If so, you'll want Google Cloud Directory Sync (GCDS) to sync from AD to G Suite (https://support.google.com/a/answer/6120989?hl=en) To sync passwords from AD to G Suite, you want to use G Suite Password Sync (https://support.google.com/a/answer/2611842?hl=en) which will need to be installed on all your domain controllers. This will sync passwords between AD to G Suite when the user changes it. If you are not using AD already, you will likely have to do it manually (free) using GAM (https://github.com/jay0lee/GAM) or with some assistance (paid) from SalamanderSoft (https://www.salamandersoft.co.uk/) G Suite is the whole infrastructure, that includes gmail, google drive, google classroom. Google classroom is just part of that, so a provider might only be able to work with classroom and not the full suite, depends on who they are.

Are they only using the web version of teams then? Can you downloading & installing the program? Otherwise, all out of ideas and my next port of call would probably be MS Support (good luck)

I would see if you could (while they're logged in) going to credential manager, windows credentials and try clearing any "msteams_****" entries and then trying again.

They should get a proper error code, have you managed to get a screenshot of the error? In O365 Admin, are they licensed for teams? (Users > Search name > Licenses and Apps > Expand Apps > Check Teams

We're currently using both systems, students are fully G suite only, staff use Office 365 for outlook and (some depts) teams, but are synced across to G Suite, all work set on Google Classroom etc. Gmail is enabled for our staff as well so that they can use the email class function or to email students. Works perfectly fine with no issues, staff can send emails from gmail with no issues but any responses go to their outlook inbox. There has been no confusion for staff, but we don't use OneDrive, only Google Drive. If you wanted, you could see if Salamander can sync your classes to O365 distribution groups if you don't want to enable Gmail. You could then have it so all these distribution groups were in different exchange address lists for staff to search between (rather than having 100s of groups added to your GAL). Fairly certain salamander could do that.

We're open for a small cohort of kids of key workers/vulnerable children etc. As there is teaching going on on-site, one of us is in every day as well, otherwise we're working from home. Currently I'm covering my techs annual leave so in every day, but from next week it'll be 3 days one week, 2 days the other. I've had remote working set up for a long time so no staff are really having issues, I'm only on-site if there is a fault with a laptop and projection really! @mikeprice - In terms of monitoring work at our school, we are using Google Classroom more extensively (this is great, as staff are forced to learn how to use it properly rather than just uploading work sheets for homework!). I'm running usage reports for GC to see which students in an OU have logged in and when, this is shared with SLT and Heads of Year, HoY then contact parents for those that aren't logging in etc. The majority of students are logging in. Subject Leads are also included on their departments classes and they are in charge of ensuring staff are providing adequate work and routinely checking for completion etc, teachers will see missing assignments too. SLT understand it's unlikely a student is going to go through and complete the work for a full 5 period day while at home, but they want parents to ensure students are doing enough work for 3 separate subjects a day. Overall, it seems like most students are engaging and doing the work set.

Our BM has tried today and just gets a blank page when attempting to access the form. Dev tools show it's not loading a part with error 500 so definitely a problem on their end...

On your SIMS homepage, if you already have an attendance summary on the homepage and don't mind editing it, go to the drop down arrow at the top right of it > Configure Change the "Cycle" to "Today" rather than "Week to Date" and then hit OK. This should update the dashboard widget to show a summary of the day. You can add additional copies (e.g. Attendance Summary for Day, Attendance Summary for the Week) by going to Configure on the homepage and then adding an additional attendance summary (increase the number of additional panels if needed)

Same as a single server doing everything but instead you add more session hosts and the RD Gateway load balances for you between those session hosts, the guide mavhc linked should cover it but as an overview it should be something like; Spin up new servers In Server Manager, go to your RDS Deploment Overview Right click RD Session Host > Add Session Host servers > Add your new servers Collections > Whatever collection you've made > Add host server

Similar size school, we're using 4vCPU and 24GB RAM for our SIMS server with similar speeds to load students etc. Pretty sure our limiting factor is our storage speed, rather than the VM.

3389 should never be opened up to the outside world, super common attack vector. He's using RD Gateway which uses 443 so that's not an issue here I'll edit quick with what I think you need to do next, you're pretty much set up though Quickly looking through your post, it looks like you've got it working internally once you bypass the certificate error. Smoothwall - You'll need to add a port forward for port 443 from your schools external IP to your RDS server, this is to enable access to https://remote.school.org/rdweb from external into your server. Once you've done that, you should be able to access the server via the domain name because you've set up an A record with your DNS provider. Certificate - You will need a certificate, we use a wildcard certificate (as we can use that for any *.school.org subdomain). It can be purchased from anywhere, if you're just going to buy a certificate for your remote server then it might be worthwhile getting one that works easily with IIS (ours we have to convert if I remember correctly) Security - You'll want to make sure that everyone has secure passwords, limit the users who can access the RD Gateway to a security group (e.g. staff) as you don't want an old service account being breached and used as your attack vector, apply GPOs to lock down the machine so that people can't access things like command prompt, powershell etc.

Since you're piping it, it's still going to run in parallel and likely hit whatever throttling MS is doing on their servers.
