  1. The SIMS Parent App can do your consents for you, and it's tied straight into SIMs. The Lite version is totally free and I'm pretty sure Capita said they released it for this very task.
  2. The Parent App is fully supported on Android though.....
  3. That's the nightmare scenario for all of us surely? Encrypting the drive, having 2FA and any other technical fix will all be void if the device is left unlocked in a public environment.
  4. I like the idea of doing the training and exams, but can the organisation legally absolve itself of responsibility in this way?
  5. I've got a copy of the February 2018 roadmap from a tech guy at Capita - SQL 2012 is showing green till Spring 2020, windows 2008 support ends after autumn 2018....
  6. Hi @Steve21 This is what our guy got quoted: 120 WinRmtDsktpSrvcsCAL ALNG LicSAPk OLV E 1Y Acdmc Ent UsrCAL Does that make sense to you?
  7. I don't think SIMS will have the capability to fully remove records till this summer's release. But year - 25th birthday is the guidance. Be careful though - there are some students who may need to be retained much longer - looked after - SEN etc.
  8. @Steve21 we're getting quoted £12+ per CAL, got any hints as to where the £6-7 is coming from?
  9. Can you actually record behaviour against them?
  10. I've always failed to get SIMS to let me do it. Are you going to change the record description or delete it and attempt to reuse the code? Let me know if you can convince it to work.
  11. You can run assembly on a workstation - we didn't like it on the server and it worked fine off a client.
  12. When you say session do you mean official AM/PM or lesson by lesson? Cos for the AM/PM there's a widget thingy you can put on your homepage which will give you the breakdown.
  13. are you talking about individual report templates? If so it's a simple find and replace job to change the resultsetid id and title.
  14. "the SIMS one" meaning the SIMS tickbox.....
  15. Have you got an account on https://myaccount.capita-cs.co.uk/ If you type "discover" in the search box the first document in the search results is the complete install guide.
  16. the student app is out, and in it's current form does very little. It does NOT currently show attendance, which the OP was after.
  17. Supported will do for me, unless Capita are planning on buying overpriced Apple gear for all my parents...
  18. Can you clarify? - I know the Teacher App has dumped Android support - but the parent and student app were still supported as of friday last week. Sure you're talking about the right app?
  19. Matt40k, can you clarify that a bit? Any school that uses any of the plethora of SIMS online bits and pieces are going to be in the position where capita (via Azure) have access to the data stored in SIMS. Is this any different?
  20. "why so s the system double up on split classes?" Presumably because when it is written in 1980-something they expected each of the teachers in the split group would want a piece of paper.
  21. Does your teacher know you are on here and asking these questions?
  22. I was going to ask if the pre-admissions would pull through. I'm only using the new options online and that works with accepted pre-admissons.
  23. no, it's SSO. See the other thread which is currently on this topic.
  24. I totally agree with the separation of the authentication - however as SIMS does NOT in fact have any options for you to set up password complexity this doesn't leave us any better off. My warning was aimed at dissuading people from playing around with the SIMS SQL database to try and force password policies - the cost to your organisation is going to outweigh the benefits.
  25. as clever as we all are at playing with this stuff, Capita will cut you off with at the knees if they find you doing this. The better solution (which is also Capita friendly) is surely going to be using windows authentication for SIMS, and making sure your windows security is up to scratch?
